COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Chatoe Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale.

The newest addition to the Chatoe Rogue series is Pumpkin Patch Ale, a beer made using fresh pumpkins grown in a patch that borders Rogue’s 42 acre hop yard. The pumpkins are picked, loaded into Rogue’s farm truck, driven immediately 77 miles to our brewery in Newport, quickly roasted, and pitched into the brew kettle to create a batch of Pumpkin Patch Ale.

Bottle. The look is a decent beige colored head, clear, and light brown in color. The smell is squash, nutmeg, allspice, sweet, and cinnamon. The taste is the same as the smell.

Poured into my Free State pint glass. Cloudy. Already has some points in my book. Who says beer has to be crystal clear? I am not that big on filtering. Pumpkin colored with thick, bubbly head that dissipated fairly quickly. Smells of maple syrup and ginger. Not a bad combo. Already I was worried that this beer would be too heavy handed with the spices. Then I remembered it was Rogue. I put a lot of trust in John Maier. Not too heavy handed on flavor. It seems to be a beer first, then pumpkin and spices second. Spices seem to come up in the aroma more than the taste. I get enough hop bitterness to balance. Medium-light on the palate also. Still not a huge fan of pumpkin beers (except once in a while) but this one was actually pretty good. In John I trust.

750ml Bottle. It pours a clear medium burnt orange with a large (2-3 finger) off white fizzy head that quickly diminished until there was almost nothing left, but did have a tiny bit of spotty lacing. The aroma was mild of a sweet bread malt and a light doughy yeast with notes of pumpkin, clove, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar. The taste was lightly sweet and quite malty with a touch of brown sugar and nutmeg throughout. Then a slight bitterness crept in along with a bite of clove and a hint of vanilla, with the ending having a spicy cinnamon taste. The flavor was average in duration following the swallow, with a light spiciness lingering on the taste buds for a bit longer. Mouthfeel was somewhere between light and medium in body with a watery yet slightly dry texture and a fizzy carbonation. Overall this was a light and tasty Pumpkin Ale with a slightly sweet start, a spicy bitter middle and a nice cinnamon ending. Yep, it’s Fall alright...

Bomber bottle. The aroma is a duller pumpkin smell, I assume cause they were fresh pumpkins. Nice pumpkin spice aroma. It looks really good. Dense brown with a lasting cream head with some decent lacing. The taste starts out subtly spicy and rolls into what i am picking up as fresh pumpkin. The spice carries through out. The palate is pleasing, with some spice aftertaste. Overall, a great pumpkin beer for seeming to just be a fresh pumpkin gimmick. Well done, rouge. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber. Really dark amber, clear i think...drank on a dark patio. Smells of pumpkin pie, quite heavy on pumpkin and not so much on the nutmeg and all spice (this is a good thing). This is actually one of the better pumpkin beers, maybe i’ll let my wife order for me more often.

Pours a nice dark reddish brown color. Low carbonation, and minimal head. Mild pumpkin spice aroma as you go to take a sip. Medium body and not light like a lot of pumpkin beers that only add spices. This is the real deal with pumpkins from Rogue’s farm added in. I definitely recommend if you like pumpkin beers.

The beer pours a dark brown color with an off-white head. The aroma is full of cinnamon and a bit of nutmeg. I also get some other assorted spice notes, as well as some toffee. The flavor is more of the same. I get some pumpkin and caramel/toffee notes, as well as a good bit of spice. I get a bit of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove notes, with a hint of allspice mixed in. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

poured a dark reddish color with a thin creamy off-white head. Aroma is sweet with good pumpkin notes. Some spices and cream as well. Taste is less sweet than the aroma with lots of grain flavors. A good amount of pumpkin. The balance is not bad at all for a pumpkin beer and it still has good malt flavors. Overall nice.

Paid $7.99 for a 750 ml bottle @ Table and Vine. Nice looking deep brown with amber highlights. The aroma is a fantastic mix of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon and caramel. The pumpkin really comes through as it warms and is very obvious that it is natural gourd. Has a lively, tingle in the mouthfeel. Mild hop to help with balance. Very nice in the style. Highly drinkable.
