COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Chatoe Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale.

The newest addition to the Chatoe Rogue series is Pumpkin Patch Ale, a beer made using fresh pumpkins grown in a patch that borders Rogue’s 42 acre hop yard. The pumpkins are picked, loaded into Rogue’s farm truck, driven immediately 77 miles to our brewery in Newport, quickly roasted, and pitched into the brew kettle to create a batch of Pumpkin Patch Ale.

Btl pours bright amber color with a thick creamy off white head that lingers, leaving specks of lace. Smells of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger, caramelized sugar and a hint of pumpkin. Taste of sweet malts, gingerbread, holiday cookie spices, orange zest, vanilla, brown sugar and cola. Medium body, soft creamy texture, lively carbonation and and tongue tingling light bitter finish. Aromas popped out of bottle as soon as opened. Taste is fresh and clean. The first taste/aroma reminded me of grandmas kitchen around the holidays. Nicely balanced, not overly spiced and not over the top pumpkin flavor. This has to be the best pumpkin beer I have tasted so far.

On tap at Brass Tap , Coral Sorings, pours a light rustorange color wth a very small head. Nose is spicy with pumpkin, nutmeg and cinnamon. Taste is full of fall spices, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon and pumpkin with some mold sweetness. Finishes on the same sweet fall spicey notes. Great pumpkin ale. Quaff Score 8 / 10

Bottle @ home during my #5,000 tick fest, picked up at Wilburs Foco. Pours a bit hazy, dark reddish orange appearance with a cream colored head. Pretty spicy, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, light caramel nose. Pretty rich, cinnamon, mild caramel, toasted pumpkin, vanilla, rich nutmeg flavor. Pretty tasty.

Lacking in aroma. Pours with a very thick and heavy head. Could use a little more body. Pumpkin flavor really comes out at the end.

750 ml bottle, 2012 vintage in the orange bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a copper/orange color with about an inch light tan head. Head retention is good, and there’s a small amount of lacing. The aroma is nice, it smells like pumpkins, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a bit of ginger. Nice balance between the pumpkin and spices in the aroma. Taste is similar to the aroma, but the flavor seems to be more pumpkiny than spicy although the spices are noticeable. The taste reminds me of eating pumpkin bread. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit creamy and slick with moderate carbonation. I think this is a good overall pumpkin ale. A bit pricey at $9.99 a bottle so I probably wouldn’t pick this one up very often, but it’s definitely worth trying.
