COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Chatoe Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale.

The newest addition to the Chatoe Rogue series is Pumpkin Patch Ale, a beer made using fresh pumpkins grown in a patch that borders Rogue’s 42 acre hop yard. The pumpkins are picked, loaded into Rogue’s farm truck, driven immediately 77 miles to our brewery in Newport, quickly roasted, and pitched into the brew kettle to create a batch of Pumpkin Patch Ale.

Pours a nice dark orange/copper color with a small off-white head. Aromas and flavors of pumpkin (obviously), spices and caramel malt. The body is a bit thin and finishes sweet. A very good pumpkin beer, but not one of the upper echelon pumpkin beers.

(bottle - 750 ml) Orange pour with an off-white head. Mild pumpkin pie spice aroma with a nice earthy note under it. Flavor isn’t overpowering with spice thankfully. Light spice, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc. with a good natural pumpkin flavor.

I loved this beer I just thought it was great. I do have to say that rogue is hot or miss honestly I’ve had beers from them that I thought just sucked but this actually surprised me. Not a huge pumpkin taste but really delicious.

Rated from notes taken 5 Nov 2013 -- Rather than the typical Pumpkin Pie Flavors, this is straight pumpkin flavored, a little herbal. I appreciate the difference.

Shared bomber poured to snifters, showing a cloudy, copper color, was a presentable layer of off white, head foam, and spotty lacing. The aroma was a huge nose of fresh pie spice, with some pumpkin and toasted scent noticeable upon follow up. Light to medium bodied, the intensity fell off a bit in the taste, but still retained some of it’s light toastiness, low bitterness, complementary malt, and nice, fall sessionability.

Tap at Lazy Dog. Pours a transparent amber with thin beige head. Taste of pumpkin and nutmeg with a bit of spiciness. Aroma of pumpkin and spices.

22oz orange bottle served in a small tulip. Hazy brown with a pretty good head A substantial amount of pumpkin pie spicing in both the aroma and the taste, but enough dark malts to show through. Has a fairlly good balance but a little too spicy. Eventually a good squash taste joins the cinnamon and nutmeg..

650ml bottle from Queens Plaza Beer & Wine. Deep copper colour with great spice and cinnamon flavour. Another winner from Rogue.

Sampled from a 22 oz bottle this beer poured an orange-caramel color with a small foamy tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet and spicy cinnamon, nutmeg and yeast. The aroma was tangy and sweet honey, caramel and nutmeg. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.

Btl pours bright amber color with a thick creamy off white head that lingers, leaving specks of lace. Smells of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, ginger, caramelized sugar and a hint of pumpkin. Taste of sweet malts, gingerbread, holiday cookie spices, orange zest, vanilla, brown sugar and cola. Medium body, soft creamy texture, lively carbonation and and tongue tingling light bitter finish. Aromas popped out of bottle as soon as opened. Taste is fresh and clean. The first taste/aroma reminded me of grandmas kitchen around the holidays. Nicely balanced, not overly spiced and not over the top pumpkin flavor. This has to be the best pumpkin beer I have tasted so far.
