Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Tan head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Sourdough and roasted nut aromas. Medium bodied with spicy pumpernickel upfront turning to sourdough before the earthy bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma of smoked meats, smoke, sweet malt, light fruits. Flavor of light smoke, spicy rye malt, and sweet malt, apple skins. Sort of an odd combination of flavors but it’s decent. Palate is light, a bit sweet.

Sample from bottle @sbwf13. Opaque brown with nearly no head. Aroma is spicy, green tea and rye. Taste is sweet, not too heavy on the hops and with nice rye notes.

Murky dark brown beer with a tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth malt, touch of cream. Whisper of dark chocolate and tangy orange. Little rye spice. Light touches of paper and yeast. Finishes semi dry. Solid if uninspiring.

Clear copper with an aroma that’s like rye dough and chef boyardee. Tastes about the same, chef boyardee noodles and some bread dough.

Bottle from Binnys. Poured very dark brown with cream head. Aroma of roasted malt and slight farm funk. Quite smooth balance flavor.

Tap at Rogue. Clear, deep red pour. Wispy, white lacing. Nose is funky smoked tea, similar to Kambucha or suchong tea. Smoked, brown sugar taste with kambucha sweet tea. Strange beer. Cloying sweetness as you drink through the small pour, but soft body is a nice change from the abrasive bitterness in most of Rogue’s offerings.

22oz bottle. Pours a cloudy, dark burnt orange color with a two finger off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt with slightly sour, spicy rye and light grassy hops. Flavor is a very well melded caramel and biscuit malt, rye and slight nuttiness, with a mild spicy hop presence in the finish. Light to medium body with moderate, soft carbonation.
