Bottle, 22oz. It pours an unclear, almost brown body under a small, off-white head. Rather malty, almost spiced aroma with some bread and generic fruityness. The flavor has a nice rye influence, with fruityness, some piney hops and a maltyness. Quite pleasant, although I think it’s a bit on the malty side. Full body, quite dry on the palate. Lasting spiced and malty finish. Overall, nice. 130216

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a dark amber brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of rye bread, spices, some dank herbal notes and a bit of dry malt. Flavour is very similar, with notes of dank herbs, spices, and rye bread. Drinks okay, but the flavours are a bit off-putting. Decent stuff.

Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours so darkly ruddy it’s almost garnet. Creamy/bubbly beige head. Aroma has rye spice, but it also suggests old fashioned linoleum paste. ? Med body sort of. Flavor starts sort of rye, but goes kind of gummy and has that strange flavor (like linoleum paste sort of). The bottle indicates there’s smoked malt, so maybe it just isn’t working all that well. Possibly a situation where Rogue sort of overreached. I’ll probably keep drinking it, and I’m hoping it will be more pleasing with time.

Sweet aroma, marshmallow and that fake nougat. Later celeriac. Even later white wine. Kinda savoury taste. Some odd herbal aspects refer back to the celeriac. Full smooth palate, soft carbonation. A bit of a mixed up mess. Sweet roasted marshmallow, rough burnt edge.
