22oz bottle pours with a clear deep amber body supporting a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up mildly roasted malts, spicy melanoidin malts and a modest smooth smokiness. The taste has similar notes as noted in the nose with sort of spicy melanoidin malts, spicy rye bread and some smooth smokiness. Pretty nice stuff but the flavors seem to be brighter than needed.

Bottle. Beautiful hazy amber with a red-orange hue and a thick, lasting beige head that leaves sheets and sheets of lace all the way down the glass. Initial aroma is actually a little stinky, then more bready grain and lightly spicy citrus. The palate showcases the spiciness of rye malt perhaps better than any other rye beer I’ve had; really lovely malt profile, smooth, with just the faintest smokiness, and a light kiss of hops. Paired perfectly with our spicy dinner of pho.

Cuivrée-acajou, col fin crémeux, beige.
Arôme de levure, malt et grains restant très rustique, le tout supplémenté par le seigle. Houblons restent nobles avec des notes citronnées.
Palais est frais, grains, seigle rajoutant une pointe d’épice et certaine rondeur en fin de bouche qui est agrémenté par cette levure allemande de Weizen. Fruité noir léger rappelant le cassis. Malt cara avec une pointe de fumé. Légère et complexe.

22oz bottle, shared with friends. Mostly clear darker red / brown color. One-finger off-white head. God thick lace. Medium body, smooth carbonation. Dry finish. Interesting rye beer - different than most I’ve tried, mostly in that it’s not nearly as hoppy. Much more prominent rye malt. No balance, but it’s a rye-featuring beer. Toasty, spicy, bready malt. Maybe a tiny bit of earthy hop. Rye malt is very big, lingers long in the aftertaste, but I don’t mind it, I think it’s pretty interesting. Very much like rye bread, which I dig. Bitter taste, very dry. I was told by someone before I bought this that it was terrible, a drain-pour, she even said. I can see why, it’s a rye-bomb. But that’s interesting to me.. Unique thing, here

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a dark amber brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of rye bread, spices, some dank herbal notes and a bit of dry malt. Flavour is very similar, with notes of dank herbs, spices, and rye bread. Drinks okay, but the flavours are a bit off-putting. Decent stuff.

Bottle:   Deep brown, large foamy tannish head, nice lacing.   Pale bready nose, slightly sweaty, pale hops.   Flat maltiness on the tongue, albeit smooth.   Not a lot about this is bright.   Trouble getting
any Rye out of it.   Slight Rye as it warms, but its minor.   Body and mouthfeel are rather smooth.   Soft rye and hops as it finishes, malty, slight sweet, with a soft hop bite.   Good, but nothing special.   Was
hoping for more Rye.

650 ml bottle, thanks olio. Pours a dark murky amber colour. Aroma of red berries, bread and some sweetness. Flavour of sweet caramel, earthiness, mushrooms, red berries, bread and grass. Spiciness as well. Medium bodied and smooth malty finish. Nice balance and quite unique, but weird.

Head is initially average sized, frothy/creamy, light brown, mostly lasting.
Body is dark amber.
Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), moderately hoppy (herbs/grass, resin, apricot), with notes of black tea, autumn leaves and tree bark, medicine/Listerine/sage, earth.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium to full body, syrupy/gooey/creamy texture, lively/soft carbonation, lightly alcoholic, metallic.
One of the weirdest mouthfeels of any beer I’ve ever encountered...it’s almost like syrup (but thankfully carbonated), very thick and goopy. Combined with the metallic aftertaste, I must say it’s pretty unpleasant. The aroma is interesting and autumnal, but there is a medicinal twang I’m not very fond of...but good for the most part. Nice lasting head, fairly good flavor balance. Hard to get past the strange gooey mouthfeel, though, so in the end, sadly, it’s pretty much undrinkable.
