2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Dark brown pour with no head. Unspectacular in every way. A heap of zest and spice mingle with some heavy toffee biscuit. Unbalanced and uncoordinated. Not very good at all

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle. Pours a cloudy, dark burnt orange color with a two finger off-white head. Aroma is caramel malt with slightly sour, spicy rye and light grassy hops. Flavor is a very well melded caramel and biscuit malt, rye and slight nuttiness, with a mild spicy hop presence in the finish. Light to medium body with moderate, soft carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Light to moderate dark bread and toasted for the malt, pine resin for the hops, faint dough for the yeast, with hints of cinnamon, cola and tobacco. Head is average size, frothy/ creamy, light beige with good lacing and ismostly lasting. Color is hazy mohogany. Flavor starts faintly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly bitter. Palate is medium, slick, with a lively carbonation. Nice hoppy aspect to this tasty Rye Beer.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Sprout’s: Poured a dark gloomy liquid nearly opaque because of how much sediment/junk are floating in balanced equilibrium. Aroma is based primarily based off malts while there is a heavy dosage of spices on my nose that I could care less to individually pick one by one. The drink delivers a tart taste of expired malt sugars and expending yeast but somehow still gives off an artificial rye bread flavor that I find putrid which ends up tasting like the most dud first growth chatoe rogue I’ve had- to date.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22oz bomber shared by browncar, pours a red brown with an off white head, the aroma is of a little spice and some malt, the flavor is pretty much the same, malty front end with a some of the rye coming through in the finish, kind of boring overall, meh.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 ounce bottle into signature pint glass; no bottle date, but a late 2012 release. Pours lightly hazy deep reddish copper color with a 1-2 finger dense cream colored head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big spicy rye, caramel, toast, brown bread, smoke, light roast, pepper, clove, light citrus, floral, and roasted earthiness. Nice, pleasant, and unique aromas with good balance and complexity of malt notes with moderate hops; with solid strength. Taste of spicy rye, toast, brown bread, caramel, smoke, light roast, light clove, pepper, floral, pine, light citrus, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of rye, caramel, toast, brown bread, light roast, pepper, floral, pine, light citrus, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of flavors with good malt complexity and robustness; nice hop/malt flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth and lightly creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good Roggenbier! Nice balance and complexity of malt flavors with moderate hops; and very smooth to drink. Never had this style before, but this was very enjoyable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled sample. Dark brown in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of wheat, bubblegum, whole wheat bread dough, sulfur, woodsmoke and molasses. The smoke element (specifically Alder according to my tastebuds) is far more assertive in the mouth, and is well supported by bready malt and minty hop flavors. I didn’t get a whole lot of that tangy quality that rye tends to bring to the table. Could have used a bit of a cleaner finish, but this is a complex and well made beer overall.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
A nice dark amber body with an off white head. Aroma had a nice mix of smoked malts and a nice blend of rye malts and some hop bitterness. Flavor seemed to be a lighter version of the aroma. Mild smoke, which almost reminded me of liquid smoke. Rye malts were somewhat present, hop bitterness was nice. Smooth finish and easy to drink. Kind of light on the palate.
