This was a shared tasting with Strykzone on Facebook Chat as we share so many beers together this way. . Poured a cloudy opaque amber-brown with a moderate beige head and good lacing. Nose is rye, wood, and smoke, with a little plum. Light to medium body. Flavor is rye forward but there is a lot of complexity here with an earthy background, smoke, ripe fruit, and a lot of graininess. Chocolate finally appears. The finish is quite dry wit floral hops and low bitterness. This is a complex beer and at first the unusual combination of flavors was a bit of a surprise, but as I got closer to the end it became quite enjoyable as the fruit and chocolate pulled even with the rye and a little spice appears..

A light brown appearance with tan two finger head. Smell is hop, malt, yeast, rye, a general earthiness. Taste is subdued and clever. Slight hop approach, counteracted by the grains. Slightly toasted.

Pint at the Rogue pub in Newport. Not many Roggenbiers here in the states! Nice earthy flavors marry well w/subtle hopping creating a very quaffable experience. A well brewed beer.

Soft copper brown pour with one finger of dirty white head. Ruby highlights. Super spicy flavor, hops are there. Citrusy and raw fruit notes coming through. Nose is awful, smells like something gone bad.

Bottle, 22oz. It pours an unclear, almost brown body under a small, off-white head. Rather malty, almost spiced aroma with some bread and generic fruityness. The flavor has a nice rye influence, with fruityness, some piney hops and a maltyness. Quite pleasant, although I think it’s a bit on the malty side. Full body, quite dry on the palate. Lasting spiced and malty finish. Overall, nice. 130216

On tap, pours a hazy muddy brown color with a medium off white head that leaves good lacing, Smells like of rye, and earthy fresh mud smell. Tastes of rye, roasted malt and light hops. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with good carbonation. Overall this was an interesting beer, not one I could drink all the time but it was good.

Pours a beautiful, clear brown with a god sized cream colored head. Spice, roasted grain and somewhat funky phenolic aroma. Flavors are dark roasted malts, earth and a hint of smokiness.

The head is ok. It smells a bit sweet, rye. The taste is fruity and flowery, fruity-bitter, exotic fruity, rye. Tasty and easy drinkable! 12/11/12/12/12/12
