rebelbrewer (125), Lithonia, Georgia, USA Apr 4, 2006 22 ounce bottle – poured into a snifter glass. It is a cloudy orange with a large 1.5 inch creamy white head. The head was slow to dissipate and settled in at about a ¼ of an inch. I tried to get an aroma out of the glass, but I just got an astringent aroma. The carbonation is incredible and in my opinion way over done. I’m going to pause now and let this warm up. It’s already at 45 degrees, but I think it needs to be warmer… O.K. that didn’t work. It got worse. Not a good brew by Rogue. Shockingly surprising in a bad way. beerBB (132), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 3, 2006 Very yeasty, hazy appearence. Very good head. Flavors were too all over the place. Not a bad saison but I expected a lot from Rogue biggcb (459), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 1, 2006 Bottle. A very murky, orange/gold color. A slighly fruity & yeasty aroma. Good head. Taste is......interesting. I think maybe there are too many things competing with one another is the flavor. No real balance. Not a bad beer, but not what I would have expected from Rogue. hurleymanvw (101), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Mar 29, 2006 Hazy orange with white head. Good citrus aroma and flavor. Sweet as well with a very fruity finish. Smooth drink but not great. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 27, 2006 Bottle. Pours hazy orange\gold with a large off-white head. Aroma of citrus, sweet malts, spices, and fruit. Flavor is heavily carbonated, sweet, spicey, white a fruity finish. Not bad, but disappointing for rogue. jeffc666 (1887), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Mar 26, 2006 This may or may not have been what I had given Rogue’s rather idiotic (IMO) habit of assigning a bucket full of names to each beer they brew. It was called Rogue Anniversary Saison on the menu at RFD and was served draft. Minimal white head, amber with yellow highlights. Aroma was very minimnal, slighly sweet with only faint whisps of yeast. Not like any Saison I have ever had. The flavor was an equal dissapointment, sweet with banana and some faint yeastiness. Medium full palate. Nto my cup o’ tea. sethdude (600), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Mar 25, 2006 A bit of a letdown. To be honest, it smells pretty good, mild citrus, mild funk, some hop spritz, a tad dusty, very much what I expect from a saison. Flavor is a trainwreck, though. It is just too much of everything without enough (or any) balance. Very raw, extremely difficult to isolate individual flavors due to over-carbonation. Flavors that are distinguishable are caramel malts, wheat notes, dandelion, and mild citrus, followed by horrible astrigency, alcohol burn, and heavy carbonation, slightly metallic. Would be a whole lot better if they made a 4/5ths version with about 5% alcohol. and 1/4 the carbonation. A partially good beer. Malakin (465), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Mar 24, 2006 Clear amber with lots of carbonation, big fluffy head that quickly faded. Very fizzy mouth feel, makes me think of dry champagne oddly enough. Spicy with some decent complexity. Underrated.
