hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Dec 4, 2005 Bottle... A&K’s4thAHBT... Murky, pear-colored ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Soapy, breadsy aroma with notes of grapefruit, ginger, caramel and orange peel. The flavor is decently-balanced and earthy with hints of lemon peel and ginger. Medium-bodied and fizzy. Finishes earthy and spicy. Better than expected. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Dec 4, 2005 22 oz bomber. Beautiful red-orange beer with a thick off-white head. Sweet yeasty aroma, some honey, light fruit, some herbal aroma, gingery with a bit of black pepper. Flavour is fairly sweet, with a prominent yeastiness. A bit bread. Honeyish flavour, light herbal. Lingering yeasty finish. A bit too sweet and way too bready. As it warms, the beer becomes quite astringent and harsh tasting. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Dec 4, 2005 Saison? ewww, not much of one in my opinion. On tap at the winter beer festival. Pours a cloudy orange with a white head, ok so far. Flavor first of all wasn’t dry at all, very fruity and hoppy, tastes more like a pale ale. Then where was the spice? so mild it was almost missed, faint orange. Not pleased with this one. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA Dec 4, 2005 Updated: Dec 13, 2005Eric-pours hazy orange with a big sudsy/fizzy white head. aroma of oranges, big spices, ginger, a touch of saison yeast, with a huge seltzer carbonation note. flavors are very tart, too much! oranges, ginger, very dry, priclkly yeast note that becomes metallic and astringent. some toilet bowl cleaner in there as well. palate is fizzy but akin to the saison style.
keith-Nice golden color with a cloudy look if you drain the bottom. Sweet aroma and the first taste bites the tongue. The spices combine and make this sweet with a hint of tartness. The orange steps up a little in the aftertaste. Pretty tasty, but not balanced and not all that smooth. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Dec 3, 2005 Pour is a hazy amber with a huge frikking white head. It takes awhile for that sucker to calm down. Aroma is hard to detect untill the head goes down but there are some spices and clove in there. Flavor is a bit bready and spicey. Ok but prob not a saison, more like a hefe. Reminds me of Sam Adams summer ale. dhlesq (233), Thousand Oaks, California, USA Dec 3, 2005 Aroma is very yeasty, floral hoppy, some pear and green apple, lots of cobwebs. Appears a cloludy apricot color, with an enormous orange-cream head that dissipates though not quickly. Flavor begins very sweet and malty, and then gives way to sweet orange, only to finish with a bready, yeasty, finish. Palate is thick, chewy, and somewhat syrupy at the end. Overall, this beer is even less than the sum of its parts. This is the first Rogue offering I have had in some time, for good reason. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Dec 3, 2005 22 oz bottle
Pours all foamy head over a clear golden yellow body.
10 min time out while it settles down so I can pour some more............
The aroma is musty funky yeast and citrus with a peppery spice note.
The flavor is lightly sweet with tangy fruits. Light body dry finish.

Good Job Rogue. A great winter warmer with a nice flavor of hops and malts. I get a Belgian feel out of this beer. Nice color with a great hard I get a caramel flavor off the first taste and a great finish to this beer. Can I have more?
