2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Lukaduke (1017) - Portland, Maine, USA - OCT 20, 2012
Draft at Novare Res. Pours a deep umber color with a finger of mocha foam. On the nose its burnt malt and light touches of dark chocolate. Decent carbonation with a medium body... brings out a lot of nothing. Pretty straight forward decent beer but nothing to exciting as far as Belgian style stouts go.

Bottle #306 poured a deep cola with a medium mocha head and notable lacing. Aroma includes coffee beans, nestle quick, and roasted malt. Taste begins with coffee and roasted malt before baker chocolate and palatable espresso bitterness are introduced. Enjoyable creamy mouthfeel after a smooth finish. Very drinkable roasty foreign stout.

On tap at Redlight Redlight in Orlando,FL. Pours a thick, opaque black from the tap with thin brown, lacy head and little to no lacing sticking. Aroma of coffee, dark fruity esters, dark chocolate. Taste follows suit, with coffee kind of overpowering most, but the yeast allows for a certain dry sweetness underneath. Goos stuff and surprisingly very drinkable.

8 oz. pour at Thirsty Monk. pours near black with a tight dark head. This is a robust and balanced stout. There is a tasty milkiness with toasty hints and a very heavy, roasty, ashy quality. There are mild fruity notes buried under the dry coffee and dark cacao flavors. The use of Belgian yeast is very tasteful and leaves the malts to do their thing. I’ve always liked Rogue’s stouts and this is no exception.
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Cybercat (2454) - Georgia, USA - SEP 28, 2012
Comes out of the tap a rich, warm, opaque sable with a fairly thick tan head that leaves generous lacing - couldn’t look any better. Mouth-watering aroma fills the nose with woody, chocolate and roast malt notes. Fantabulous flavor has notes of chocolate, caramel, quality coffee and licorice notes plus hints of molasses and roast malt. I love stouts and I love Belgians, so this is a match made in beer lover’s heaven for me! Firm-bodied texture has a good amount of fizz and life. Congratulations on this milestone, Rogue! I feel privileged that I got a snort of your special brew.
