11/3/12. On tap at Kickback’s. Deep black pour with a big, tan head. Huge roast and bitterness in the aroma and flavor with some chocolate in there, and a good dose of ashiness. Very lighty fruitiness and a hint of acidic tartness. Not bad.

Draft at Park Lane in Hampton. Black pour with a short tan head. Aroma is roasty but slightly tart with yogurt, yeast, cocoa and chocolate notes. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate yogurt, soft yeast, earthy notes, cocoa and faint caramel. Body is medium and creamy with a soft carbonation. Light tartness as well. Ends with more roasted malt, chocolate, cocoa, light coffee, yogurt and earthy notes. Nice!

Review #300! 750ml swingtop bottle hand numbered and signed by John Maier bottle #689/1515 Pours a pitch black color with a thick fluffy khaki head tha leaves great lacing. Smells of Belgian yeast, roasted malt and dark chocolate. Tastes of all the same things in the smell and tastes better as it warms. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with good carbonation and a semi dry finish. I really enjoyed this beer. It’s one of the best Rogue beers I’ve had. Its very well balanced for a stout. Glad I was able to get my hands on this cool looking limited bottle of this tasty brew.
