2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft: Unfiltered brick orange. Tightly packed dirty-white head. Nose is ruined by gluey yeast, which resides over hints of blood oranges, pinewood, nectarines and plummy esters. Soft but prickly carbonation. Densely oily body. Initially medicinal yet amply malted with sweet toasted bread kissed with tight notes of pine needles. Heavily mushy and oversweet . Ever intensifying grapefruit rind stings the palate and amplifies the medicinal notes. Fruity esters teeter on the edge of syrupy. Soft and juicy peach and orange hop flavors are here in abundance, but are extremely dull due to the unclean yeastiness which plagues things throughout. Yeast also adds to the unfinished nature as it imparts plenty of weight but curiously little in the way of flavor. Hop bitterness is loosely brash rather than bright and poignant. Alcohol is poorly concealed. Closes with a supple yet highly unrefined combination of citric and spicy hops. Dry-hopping yields lots of citrus flavors which exude with each belch. The aroma is decent but quite dull, yeasty and muted, and the beer seems slightly unfinished. Meh.

On Draft at the Dunedin Brewery
Happy Hops! A light copper colored body and tall ivory head. The aroma and flavor are boldly dry-hopped, like a just fermenter pulled hopsack… with lemon zest spruce chips, and a musty spiciness all heady and abroad. The palate is killer. The one element I’ve always dug about the Rogue beers is the lesser amount of carbonation. It sits in my stomach and drinks really well. I’m especially happy to have tried this beer… and I’m still wondering how the draft ended up here in Florida…. Anyhow… I’m Ampped!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
The aroma is almost tropical in a hoppy kind of way. There is also pine and sweet malt but it’s not cloying. The appearance is deep gold with a touch of copper. The head was not as big as it should be. The palate was nice and smooth and the flavor was good but a tad bit astringent.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at the Happy Gnome in St. Paul, MN. Loads of sweet, rich piney hops. Very bright with some sweet malt lurking. Pours rich brown with a creamy head. Flavor pretty much mirrored the aroma. Lots and lots of hops. Big, rich, oily, pine and some citrus. Quite bitter with just a hint of malt to balance. Medium to full bodied.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft pint at Green Leafe Cafe. Amber and reddish with a thin but staying head. Musty and mashy aroma. Big flavor components of bitter apple, overly bitter woodsiness, almost medicinal, without any malty underpinning. Off balance? (#3147, 10/19/2007)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Similar to previous years of Glen. Pours dark copper with a medium off-white head. Sweet caramel malts up front, lightly toasty, and a big strong hop finish. The bitterness was slightly stronger, but the oringal Glen was pretty hopped up anyway.
Earlier Rating: 6/22/2004 Total Score: 4.2
Pours a nice copper color with a small white head. Sweet aroma of bubblegum and hops with almost a fruity hint to it. Taste has a slight spicyness to it, almost like clove. Starts kinda sweet and ends only a bit bitter. Smooth mouthfeel with a dry end. Easy drinking for 8.2%, this brew was much better on tap.

Lots of malt and lots of hops, what’s not to like about this beer? Sweet flavor with a bitter finish. Nicely balanced.
