bbp182 (255), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 15, 2008 This is one of the best Hefeweizens I have ever had. I’m a hop head so this one is just for me.
Look - It has a cloudy, yellow beautiful color to it with a nice white head
Smell - Ginger, orange and lemon, hoppy also. Not an overly bad hop but like a nice, sorta fruity hop. Very well balanced.
Taste - Lemon, and orange with a yeasty almost banana like taste. Has a very nice floral/fruity bite at the ends. It has a dry, bitter hop finish. daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA Sep 15, 2008 Bottle, so so at best. Not horrible, but not amazing either. Hazy, gold pour with a big white head. Aroma is yeasty, spicy, bread and malt. Flavor is yeasty and bready and just kind of boring. Smooth and refreshing, good carbonation, but not the best effort from Rogue. FlssmrBrewAlum (1079), Lisle, Illinois, USA Sep 14, 2008 22 oz. bottle courtesy of John’s Grocery. One of the last bottles of my Iowa stock. Pours a very interesting, murky golden color (a lot of bottle yeast!) with a decent white bubbly head that dissipates at a normal pace. Aromas are different than expected, more of a belgian wit dominated by coriander. Taste is similar, with a touch of orange peel shining through and some lighter spicy belgian yeast notes. I really thought this was gonna be a banana bomb, but I’m not dissappointed. A good US take on a Wit. Medium bodied with all that yeast, yet still refreshing. I liked this. Wouldn’t be surprised if I indulged again. Cheers! kiefdog (1567), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 14, 2008 65cl bottle from Total Wine (Tampa, FL). Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a white foamy head that settles quickly but still provides some lacing on glass. Aroma is bready, yeasty, spicy with notes of honey and grain. Flavor is somewhat different from the aroma in that is generally muted with just bready and honey notes coming through. Generally light bodied with very faint grain finish. (Rating #1939) Chrism86 (273), Melbourne, Australia Sep 5, 2008 Updated: Sep 6, 2008Pours hazy yellow/gold with a small white head. Aromas are a touch saison-like, citrus and spice. Palate displays more of the same, big spice presence (coriander, ginger stated on label) seems to lack trademark bubblegum yeast characters of the style, not necessarily a bad thing. Finishes slightly sour from the wheat. Not traditional, but pleasant enough kassner (429), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 4, 2008 Had this beer at Three Sons but it was poured from the top, pretty clear so that might account for no noticeable coriander, ginger or yeasy lemons. Some Koelsch like odors, fairly clean bitter finish, doughy flavors but too much carbonaic acid. rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Sep 4, 2008 Pours a hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, citrus peel. Flavor is wheat, yeast, orange peel, ginger, lemongrass. Easy drinking, low carbonation, refreshing on a hot summer day. The coriander is very detectable and bittering in the finish. Interesting take on the style.
