Tasted 9/21/09. 22oz bomber. Hazy with a golden hue. White brainy head. Creamy grainy aromas. Medium bodied with a crisp citrus note. Bitter with orange and citrus flavors. Good hop finish. The ginger really adds a nice dimension to the bitter palate. The second pour is activated and sedimented. Grainy sweet cinnamon bready malts. Big ginger in the finish. I liked it!

22 oz bottle from Crystal Liquor Barrel. Cloudy orange pour, white foamy head. Wheat/yeast aroma with slight sulfur. Not very flavorful, slight yeast, bit of lemon, not much mouthfeel or finish.

A cloudy yellow pour with minimal head, smells ok, not compelling. Doesn’t have that good unfiltered texture and is slightly sour with mild hop bitterness. There are much better hefeweizens to be had, namely Boulevard Wheat.

Form Norm’s Beer and wine. 22oz bottle. Was excited to try this when I saw a Rogeu Hefeweizen (mine isn’t labeled as a Half-E-Weizen)...but this beer is nothing special, which is weird for what I expect from Rogue.

Bottle 65 cl. Hazy yellow with a dense shaving foam style head. Aroma of nothing much - perhaps a little fruit - but neither coriander nor any yeast in either aroma or flavour. Medium body, lightly sweet fruit and a somewhat astringent finish. Not bad as such, just very bland. 250709

0.5l bottle into weizen glass. A filtered bright gold beer with an ample dense foamy white head providing decent lacing. Aromas of doughy malts, fresh coriander and mild citrus. Flavours of restrained sweet malts with ginger on the mid-palate and a clean dry hop bitterness to the finish. Quite light bodied with above average carbonation. It is nothing like an authentic Bavarian hefe but still works well as a kind of lighter Belgian blonde inspired ale. Even then it is quite bitter for the style. Overall I still quite like it and I admire the experimentation of the brewery.

22 oz bottle poured into a Franziskaner glass. Pours a light golden yellow with a lot of carbonation and a big white head. Nose is a lot of wheat and yeast just a touch of spice. A little more spice with the flavor but has a bitterness I do not care for in a hefe. Nothing wrong but nothing special.
