blackmurder (164), sadf, Hawaii, USA Feb 17, 2007 Nothing too great here. This beer has a citrusy flavor with some other odd notes in there. The head is quickly diminishing, which was nice as this seems to be a beer best enjoyed with a burger. A thirst quencher of sorts. In conculsion, this is a half arsed ale. DrHomolka (726), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 8, 2007 Bottle. Pale yellow with a small white head that disappears quickly and some sediment. Can hardly smell anything off this. Slight citrus and orange I guess. Can hardly taste anything either. Very, very light stuff. Seriously lacking flavor. Being a fan of wheat beers and a fan of Rogue I was very disappointed. robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jan 26, 2007 aroma is big time orange, citrus and ginger. im not detecting any corriander.
flavour is ALL ginger. This is borderlining on ginger ale now. interesting, not great though. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Jan 22, 2007 on tap @ Coles Buffalo, NY. Pale somewhat cloudy yellow with fruity full head. Definately taste the ginger & coriander. Not the best hefe not the worst. Average RedHaze (370), Where the hell am I?, Nebraska, USA Jan 14, 2007
Pours a slightly hazy pale golden color, with a rocky two finger head that settles a to solid layer of foam, leaving behind a thin sheeting of lace.
Smell; lots of citrus with lemons and oranges. I can also taste the ginger and coriander, but not so much as far as the wheat.
Taste; the coriander and ginger flavors are little stronger in the flavor than they were in the smell, with lemon and orange peel. I get more of a wheat profile in the taste/palate than I was expecting, with a bit of hop bitterness in the finish. I’m usually not a big fan of ginger in my beer but it wasn’t overwhelming in this. Mouthfeel is light ot medium bodied, and pretty darn drinkable.
Not a great example of a wit, but still a pretty nice beer that works well in hot weather. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Jan 14, 2007 Draught @ Rogue Brewer’s on The Bay, Newport, OR. June 2005. Pours a hazy golden/yellow color with a small white head. Sweet malty citrus aroma with some hints of coriander. Sweet malty flavor with some hints of citrus and spices. Malty wheat finish with some citrus hints. JFURYCAT (782), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 12, 2007 This one has a dose of wheat and orange with a some coriander which starts off nicely but the aftertaste seems a bit on the bready side. The coriander seems too pronounced. I would like if they cut out the ginger. The aftertaste lingers. Illini08 (528), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Dec 14, 2006 22 oz. bomber. Honey yellow pour, no head retention. Aroma sucks, slightly citrusy and a bit of wheat, but very, very subdued and no real estery aromas that you expect from a good wheat. Soft wheat and banana flavor, easy drinking. Dry, very slightly hoppy finish. This does not deserve to be in the 90th percentile for American Wheats or for anything for that matter. It’s not horrible, it’s just not that good.
