YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA May 23, 2006 Hazy amber body under a small white head. Elements of wheat, citrus zest, coriander, petunias. Malty/wheat flavor. Medium body, mild carbonation. Not too bad for a wheat. scraff (1921), Baltimore, Maryland, USA May 20, 2006 Tap at Frisco Grille (Rogue Wave Weekend) - Hazed gold, thin off white head. Not much nose to speak of, but some very faint hints of fruitiness, bread, spices, and cereal do eventually play out. Flavor was bland and somewhat Kolsch-like with faint fruit overtones, spice, and a very light hop bitterness late. Light bodied and thin, soft carbonation, boring tasteless finish. They can’t all be gems... henry3r (586), Wichita, Kansas, USA May 3, 2006 The 22 oz bottle poured a slightly hazy light amber colored beverage with a small white fizzy head that was mostly diminishing but left some lacing on the glass. The aroma was quite malty with some subtle citrus notes. There were the typical-of-the-style sour fruit notes as well. I could not make out the coriander nor the ginger that are noted in the commercial description. The body was light to medium and crisp with lively carbonation and a watery texture. The flavor starts off slightly sour and as the finish develops, it takes on a good, basic bitterness. Characterizing this one, I would say it is light and refreshing. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Apr 22, 2006 Pours a hazy golden glass with a small yellow short lived head. A fruity flavor and aroma. bannanas and something. It has a pretty sharp short lived bitter. A pretty good beer. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Apr 13, 2006 Pours a cludy dirty orange with a thin lasting white head. Aroma is lightly citrusy, coriander and spicy with a nice wheat malt background. Sweet bready wheat malt flavor with more citrus and coriander, with a light enjoyable crisp finish. Smooth overall. Nice. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 5, 2006 Bottle. Pours hazy golden with a moderate sized white head. Aroma of wheat, citrus, spices, and hops. Flavor is smooth, wheat, citrus, banana, alcohol, and a slight bitter finish. Good body, decent brew. maeib (4683), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Apr 3, 2006 Bottled. This is good. I didn’t expect to enjoy this very much at all, but I really did. An unattractive very hazy orange coloured beer with no head, but a beautiful aroma of hops, ginger and spices. The taste is very full and wonderfully balanced between the hops and the spices. A very tasty and very moreish beer. I am increasingly impressed by the products from Rogue. The hops never seem to dominate in a way that others often do, and there is always a fine balance with all the other ingredients. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Apr 2, 2006 From a distinctive 22oz. Rogue brown bomber bottle with a blurb about the witbier and pouring information on the side of bottle, "Unfiltered-Agitate Before Pouring." Made a good appearance, poured a cloudy copper with a creamy white head that settled into a semi-clingy thin, skim-like lacing, decent carbonation, A big ginger and orangey coriander nose, a little spicy hop and a subtle maltiness with the Pacman yeastiness. Smooth, creamy medium bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. Ginger and hop spicy followed by an orangey coriander, a smooth gentle bitterness, an underlining maltiness and a spicy, bitter finish, delicious tasting.
A nice Rogue take on the Witbier, overall balanced and tasty, worth trying.
