Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jul 21, 2005 Golden clear weizen with a thin white head. Light malty aroma, with no bananas or bubble-gum. In mouth, more like a citrusy pale ale with light wheat, lots of american hops for a weizen, and medium bodied. Im not getting much ginger or coriander. Good beer, but this is not a weizen at all! LCBO summer 2005. JadoreBlanche (114), London, Ontario, Canada Jul 21, 2005 Pours a yellow cloudy body with thick white head. Aroma of citrus, spice and wheat. Taste is bitter with a grassy flavour. Wheat is present in the taste and slight citrus flavour. I was excited to try it, and all though it didnt disappoint, it was nothing much to tlak about. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia Jul 19, 2005 Clear gold with a white lasting head. Citric aroma, with some sweet honey malts and grassy hop notes there. Sweet honey malt flavour in the start with a lasting citric finish. Some floral and spicy notes there too. Refreshing, but I prefer a weizen with less hop presence. GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 17, 2005 Bottle from the LCBO. Bright golden colour with a small white head. Really nice aroma - the coriander and ginger are noticable, along with notes of wheat, malt and honey. Flavour is very well put together, meshing the spices with a solid malt & wheat backdrop, and finishing dry and crisp with more wheat, some lemon, and grassy hops. Perhaps it’s not the most exciting or exotic beer for a milestone rating (#800), but a very satisfying one on a hot summer night, so I’m not complaining. Boutip (2335), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jul 15, 2005 Bottle: Poured a golden orangey color beer with a small bubbly white head with minimal retention. Aroma of coriander is kind of overwhelming. Taste is also dominated by coriander and leaves little or no place to wheat and ginger. Very average for the style and very average for this brewery. pootzboy (1037), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada Jul 13, 2005 Light, hazed honey-gold color, decent frothy cap, and moderate carbonation. Nice nose to this one; coriander and other spices over sweet bready aromas. Starts nice and even with spice malt and hops in perfect balance then in the finish the wheat and saaz hops give a spicy dry finish...very nicely put together...like a cross between a wit, a saison and a dry hefeweizen...chilled to about 40deg. this is a great spicy dry summer ale...I waited in long anticipation for this one and it did not disappoint. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Jul 12, 2005 Gold, puffy head. Loads of clove, very buttery. Spicy with mint/pine. Very fizzy. Beer Snob (378), Ontario, Canada Jul 11, 2005 Like the ginger. Gives this brew something memorable. A dull foggy gold with a nice aroma of lemon and ginger. Tantalizing. A bit of a letdown, as the taste is a bit mild for my liking, but there is a nice hint of ginger. Sadly, a tinge of metal lingers. But all in all, a very refreshing beer and a hell of a lot better than the last few German wheats I’ve sampled.
