Rogue Half-E-Weizen (MoM Hefeweizen)

B: bits of yeast in the bottle O: Orangeish golden color R: Really light palate I: It’s virtually flavorless N: Not a lot going on here G: Glad I finished it.

This is a bit different. Theres something in here that is reminding me of their chocolate stout and mocha porter. Heavy sediment. Im thinking its the malt. Kind of sloppy or rough looking. Ginger comes through pretty good. Wish there was a little more on the back end.

BOTTLE: semi-cloudy pale yellow pour, citrus nose with pine, some spice on taste. Low hop, low malt.

From the 650 ml. bottle with no lot number of expiration date available. The pour is pale yellow and slightly hazy with a lively carbonated white head some of which remains on top during the tasting. In the aroma I do notice that advertised coriander and ginger as well as wheat or grass elements. Average mouthfeel with good consistancy in my mouth. The ginger tends to be the stronger ingredient followed right behind by the coriander and bringing up the rear is something grassy and/or wheaty. Nothing extradordinary here but drinkable.

Grainy, hay smell at first. Clear dark yellow color, Low head for a HW. Sweet, almost perfumy taste--hint of lavender. Full body though. Not quite sure what the intent is here, but it’s off the mark of a classic hefeweizen.

Tap at Barcade: Hazy golden with a white film/ring. Off aroma- very sulfuric and farty with faint grains. Light body- flavor is a bit wheaty/starchy. Very grainy overall with little to no spice character or yeast character. Didn’t detect any hop spiciness or significant bitterness. Pretty off and boring.

Sampled at Pints for Pets. Like a Hefe-Wit - smells like wort, coriander, and ginger. Hoppy raw wort is the best way to describe it. Golden light clear with thin head. Medium watery body with medium carbonation. Bitter with coriander and ginger. Light wheat, not sweet. Hoppy and bitter, meh.

Pours a cloudy dark yellow (and grows more cloudy with every subsequent pour). Lots of yeast sediment at the bottom of the bottle. The head starts off big-bubbled, but settles into a half-finger foamy, near white froth. Very nice lace. Blonde malty aromas. Enough hop to make it interesting. Nearly no wheat--reminds me of a mild APA. The taste does not match the smell profile, but in an interesting way. The is a very dry beer, which lends itself to some bitterness. It is soft on the tongue, without being too thick or oily. The spices are nearly non-apparent. Short-lived aftertaste, but it is nicely balanced.
