KyotoLefty (1371), Kyoto, Japan Mar 16, 2009 On tap at Q-Brick in Osaka. Strong ginger and spice nose. Wheat malt character of medium strength. Rather simple, and relying too much on the ginger, I felt. Ok, but I don’t feel I need to drink it again. Rustyham (545), miami, Florida, USA Mar 14, 2009 This was a decent representation of the style, but seemed to lack a lot of imagination. I’d pick a Tucher over this, weak bready flavor. At The Bar in Miami iamqueensblvd (178), , Iowa, USA Feb 26, 2009 Updated: Mar 2, 2009Pours a nice orange color with a frothy white head. The spices are very evident in this beer. It reminds me of a lot better version of Shock Top. rbrazell (57), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Feb 19, 2009 Pours a hazy golden orange with big white head. Nose of orange peel, citrus, wheat and some spice. Flavor the same with tartness. Very drinkable. Block (363), West Lafayette, Indiana, USA Feb 7, 2009 Hazy orange pour with a white head. Faint aroma of pale malts and citrus. Flavor of sweet pale malts and citrus. Some bitterness at the finish. Medium body. Very drinkable. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Jan 26, 2009 Crushed with Jakebra. The first wheat ale I’ve had I can say I’m proud to drink, next to Gumballhead, but that’s Three Floyds’ fault. Very nice wheaty nose with some fruity bananas in there. Incredibly smooth flavor. An incredibly good example of a tough brew to master. Excellent. YogiBeera (2437), Hamburg, Germany Jan 12, 2009 Public Ale House- Downtown Portland - Nov. 2008: Very clear golden color, small head. Has kind of a farty nose. Little bit of banana in nose and taste. Light hoppy finish- but thick body. Kind of perfumey - lavender? hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jan 12, 2009 Bottle… Hazy, light yellow ale with a mid-sized, fluffy, white head. Excellent retention. Yeasty, citrusy nose provides notes of white bread, light coriander and a touch of perspiration. Medium to full-bodied with lively carbonation. Leans only a smidge on the bitter side of balance. Pale grains and bracing hops. Crisp, lightly bitter finish. This isn’t much in the way of traditional hefeweizens. No big-time esters or phenols and the hops come more to the forefront. I’m thinking American wheat… a good thing, as I mostly dislike traditional hefeweizens.
