killtuba (11), Burke, Virginia, USA May 14, 2008 great brown with a nice chocolate caramel flavor, sweet aroma - hints of nuttiness, malt - full-bodied with a slightly higher alcohol than expected hoptimus (44), Grand Island, New York, USA May 14, 2008 Bomber. Smelled very sweet with maple, cane sugar and burnt wood in the nose. Dark, dark brown...I could see a red hue when held up to light. Very nutty, malty brew with some hops. Finishes relatively clean with just a hint of alcohol burn. Could have been just a bit thicker. Overall very good beer. FlyingSwine (74), Colorado, USA May 11, 2008 22oz bottle in an English pint. Pours a very nice, dark brown with red hints. Has a decent tan head, than leaves quickly. No lacing. Aroma of burnt wood and chocolate. This one has a complex flavor that starts sweet with semi-sweet chocolate and roasted nuts. The hops are noticable, but certainly play second fiddle to the malts. Palate is creamy, but a bit thin and watery. Overall, this is a VERY complex, and very tasty brown ale, wish I could find it in 12 oz bottles. webjedi (222), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA May 9, 2008 Thin on the tongue, but very nutty, slightly creamy. Pours a dark brown, small head. Slightly roasty, more on the malt side, no discernible hop. Pretty complex on the nose. Fizzy carbonation, but not overly fizzy, and smooth on the front of the tongue. A little peaty when you wash it around in your mouth. (Bottle Pour 5/8/2008) smith4498 (174), Miami, Florida, USA May 8, 2008 Pours clear brown with off white head. Sweet hazelnut aroma. Sweet flavor with hazelnut, vanilla, chocolate, caramel, toasted m alts. Medium bodywith average carbonation and a slightly creamy mouthfeel. A solid brown ale.
