2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured with short-lived light tan 1" head. Vibrant clear brown color. Many bubbles on side of glass like a soda. Very low aroma of hazelnut, had to sniff repeatedly and vigorous to detect. Mostly malt aroma. Adequate balance of malt sweetness and bitter, nice to drink, but didn't pick up as rich nutty character as I had expected. A bit metallic aftertaste. Low to Moderate body, high carbonation - very burpy. Overall drinkable brown ale but on the boring side, I had expected more special character.

This is one of my favorite beers, if not my favorite! Rich tones of coffee and grains, not too heavy and pairs great with red meat! I haven't had anything from Rogue that I do not like, yet! Lol

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle: Swampy brown with a copper edge tint, light clarity & light haze throughout; a soapy, beige head stretched out thinly on top. Aroma is full force sticky toffee, more so than hazelnut even. Actually only a very mild hazelnut tone in the aroma. Slightly artificial, like concentrate with an undertone of residual sweetness. Off-notes of wet cardboard & dry rot... What? Is this oxidized already? Hazelnut is more relevant on the palate... Hazelnut, cola, toffee, dry cocoa powder, & nuts, leading into a lasting woodsy & earthy finish. I’m getting that weird, wet cardboard flavor & it’s really turning me off. Not as sweet as I was expecting... Rather dry, nutty aftertaste. Wasn’t a huge fan of this one... Not sure what that cardboard was all about. I’d like to try another bottle to see if things are different, but I won’t be rushing to do so.

Strong flavors of artificial hazelcut, but very watery, and overly nutty. Not something I’d buy again.

Bottle from Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Clear, dark ruby red. Halo of off white head. Looks the bee’s. Fruity, nutty, gianduja aroma. For me though, the taste is too overpoweringly sweet. It verges on artificial. Quite unpleasant, by the end of the glass.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap. Deep brown body with an average, lacing beige head. Aroma of slightly roasted malt, caramel and chocolate notes. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry with a bitter touch. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carb. A very nice brown indeed.

Pleasant taste and smell of nuts. Reminds me of a light belgian. I guess thats why its a brown ale.
