amishcaravan (237), Winona, Minnesota, USA Jul 8, 2008 pours dark brown. scent is weak, but consists of nuts and roast. taste is very nutty and takes over the taste. finishes quick. I might purchase this again. IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Jul 8, 2008 Pour is dark brown with not much aroma at all. What little aroma there is is of light fruit and malt. The flavor was quite the opposite with a very strong up front flavor of hazelnut. also noticed some slight chocolate notes in the middle finishing with a dry nutty finish as well as a slight hop character. Good brew. May buy again. daniele (1642), Italy Jul 7, 2008 ambrato carico nocciola al naso tostato leggero caramello nocciola schiuma media persistenza buona non molto amara sentori di nocciale corpo medio sfumature dolci un po di tostatura stankenk (130), Maplewood, Minnesota, USA Jul 4, 2008 Pours a dark hazelnut brown . The nose has notes of coffee and hazelnuts. Comes across the palate with hints of hazelnut and coffee, with subtle chocolate finish. Great semi sweet winter ale. kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Jul 4, 2008 On tap at Brigid’s Cross, nice pour of dark brown, not quite black with a thin dark tan head. Smelled of coffee, nutty (mostly hazelnut). Flavor of coffee and hazelnut and a finish of chocolate and malt. Good beer, great sipper. MrBeerFanatic (344), jamestown, New York, USA Jul 4, 2008 Pours a delectable dark hazelnut brown with a frothy light brown/tan head. Has a nice aroma of hazelnuts, hops, chocolate, and caramel. The flavor is very nut driven of hazelnuts and sort of hard to notice much else except a little caramel and perhaps a hint of chocolate. The feel is very creamy and rich. Its like a desert in a bottle. Very good balence and not to much complexity. Semi sweet. Wow I’ve never had a beer this nutty before. Well done. pj1855 (154), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle. Color is brown with hints of red. Mostly diminishing off white head. Good lacing. Smells sweet and nutty. Taste was creamy, with hints of chocolate and nuts. Very good beer. McGarnigle (302), Rochester, New York, USA Jun 28, 2008 Bomber, no date. Is this really a winter seasonal? Pours unsurprising dark brown in which you can see red when held to the light. Aroma hints at hops, but on the tongue, it’s the roastiness that distinguishes. Sort of chocolatey (Nutella?). Balanced so as not to be too sweet. Body is somewhat light. Still, very tasty.
