mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA Apr 5, 2008 I had Rogue HazelNut Brown Nectar on tap at Scotty’s in Bloomington, IN. The ale is deep brown in color with a nice but quickly disappearing head. The aroma is light, but hints of hazelnut cannot be missed. The flavor is full of great hazelnut flavor and the finish is very smooth. This is a great brown ale! kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA Apr 5, 2008 Pours meium brown like cola, cloudy enough not to see through. Liquid looks a little syrupy at first, then turns runnier. Tons of foam on the pour that is densly packed and laces well and lasts a while. Great balanced hop and malt aroma and character. Aroma is mild and sweet, has hints of brown sugar, caramel, and hazelnut. The beer is not very carbonated on the palate and a little flat and runny. Its’ flavor is dominated by malt that is a little bitter. The finish has a little fizz, which is nice. sudline (26), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 4, 2008 Now this is a great brown ale. Great aroma, full of roasted nut flavors. An aftertaste that keeps you thirsting for more. leninthedesert (112), Nevada, USA Apr 2, 2008 Sweet aroma, roasted, nutty malt tones. One of the best brown ales I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting. Slipstream (734), USA Mar 31, 2008 This bomber (called Morimoto Hazelnut) caught my eye and promised an unusual beer-drinking experience. The label spells out the ingredients in detail - I guess Rogue is proud of them. The aroma is superb - floral hops with a touch of hazelnut cappucino. The taste is mellow and smooth. I could taste coffee and caramel, and the hazelnut comes thru clearly. I kept thinking that I might have spilled some latte into my beer. But this unique brew works out pretty well and is worth a try. Noobling87 (17), Oregon, USA Mar 31, 2008 One of, if not my favorite out of all the rogues. It has a good amount of flavor, but a little more carbonation than I’d like. It has a hint of hazelnut(as expected) and a pinch of chocolate. It’s a decent brown ale, with a thin head. It’s good if you can’t afford a lot, but still need to enjoy a decent tasting beer. Parrothead (185), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 30, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours a opaque dark brown with a thin tan head that doesn’t last long. Nose of some malt and hazlenut. Not very smooth, which is what I was expecting for some reason. Tastes like your basic brown ale with hazlenut flavoring added. A bit of a let-down. popkow (107), New York, New York, USA Mar 30, 2008 Brown with a hint of red with a medium head. Not the best brown and expected more from Rogue. Toasted earth tones but a strange bitter tasted challenged the sweetness a proper brown ale should have.
