Smells nutty. I like that. Tastes a lot like Hazelnut which is not a good thing but a great thing! Ha ha. Probably the best brown ale I’ve ever had. Rogue never fails to impress. Such a great brewer. I drank this out of a Tumbler. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Review from notes. Poured into my Rogue pint glass. Dark brown body with a beige head. The aroma has an obvious hazelnut note drifting above sweet and roasty malt. Flavor is much the same, with roasted barley and chocolate setting the foundation for a rich nuttiness that is thankfully not overpowering. Dry finish, smooth on the palate. Really easy to drink. Aroma of toffee, chocolate, brown sugar, and hazelnuts. Smooth tatse of sweet malts through hazelnuts to a light bittersweet finish. Very solid beer. HughConway (367), Washington, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 1, 2008 Pours dark brown with a finger head. The aroma is overwhelmingly sweet almost to the point that it smells milky. The flavor is really sweet with this nuttiness, but it has a sharp dry finish. The body is kind of nice and creamy. It definitely got better as it warmed. dolemite77 (184), Maryville, Tennessee, USA

Great brown ale flavor with a nice amount of hazlenut flavor. I’ve homebtewed with hazlenut extract. This suffers from the same slightly artificial flavor. Very good though tnkw01 (175), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
