Feb 8, 2008 The aroma is sweet and milky with hints of dried fruit. The taste is sweet and nutty. The finish is smoky and woody. Its what a brown ale should be. Very drinkable and tasty.

Feb 5, 2008 22oz bottle. This was fairly decent. Better than expected for sure. Aroma of milk chocolate, hazelnut, vanilla, banana bread and grassy/slightly spicy hops. Pours a nice looking dark amber with a thin brown head leaving light spotty lacing. The Saaz are much more pronounced on the tongue and offer a nice bitter and earthy compliment to the sweeter hazelnut and chocolate notes. Some toasted malt in there as well. Creamy, medium bodied with a nice bitter and slightly sweet finish.

Feb 4, 2008 Updated: Dec 14, 2008Aroma of hazelnut, hops, chocolate and cereal malts with a bit of leathery yeast. Flavor is nutty and malty with a lot of toasted hazel nut on the back end. Appearance shows a dark amber body with a frothy light brown head that goes away. Okay lacing. Mouthfeel is creamy with soft carbonation. Pretty good!

Feb 2, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. It was a smooth beer and well balanced. There were some flavors of hazelnut and maybe a little bit of vanilla. I thought it was a solid brown ale. Rogue always seems to make very solid beers, but nothing extraordinary.

Not a bad little beer toasty sweet molasis and nutty aroma hints of vanilla in the flavor. Pours to a dark brown color w/ a small tan head.

Feb 1, 2008 Very solid, drinkable beer with nice walnut bown color and 3/4 inch khaki head. Both in the aroma and in the taste...hazelnut is definitely evident. Mouthfeel isn’t overly heavy and the flavor doesn’t stick to the palate. Extremely flavorful and undoubtedly something I’ll drink again. For those trying to convert the masses from the "World of the Macro" to something more refined, this would be a transitional beer they might be receptive to. Cheers!!!

Jan 30, 2008 Tap..Poured a medium brown w/ slight head. Some coffee notes, but mainly dominated by the hazelnut and vanilla on both aroma and flavor. Descent palate / very smooth, but the more I drank the sweeter the beer tasted.

Jan 28, 2008 Very tasty beer. A great alternative to NewCraple when you can get it. Thick, but not overly so, nice even brown color with a tan frothy head. Very nice taste. I wouldn’t say "complex" but certainly not "simple". Taste is smooth, creamy, with a nice nut and malt flavor. My favorite Rogue thus far.
