afireinside96 (817), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 21, 2008 draught. smooth and sweet. finishes with some espresso, mocha, and hazelnut. everything I wish Starbucks was. dkachur (2319), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jan 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark, dark reddish brown. Aroma is hoppy and nutty (duh). Big nutty taste, coffee and chocolate as well. Finish is bitter. Average. clong83 (243), San Diego, California, USA Jan 18, 2008 Big nutty aroma, with a great flavor. Not too carbonated. A flavor packed with nutty chocolate and coffee. Very sweet, but had some spicy hops in there too. Kind of bitter finish, but relatively clean for as dense as this is. Great beer. tunneler (112), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jan 17, 2008 Aroma of...hazelnuts, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Taste: Frangelico or hazelnut extract - sweet, hazelnuts, more hazelnuts. I wondered if this was artificially flavored at one point: overpowering georgehog (18), Delaware, USA Jan 17, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown with similarly colored head. Aroma is dominated by the hazelnuts. Flavor is the same, with some roastiness and faint hop presence making an appearance. Too much hazelnut for me. kevd193213 (477), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA Jan 12, 2008 22 oz. bomber. Aroma of brown sugar and nuts. Brown cloudy pour with almond head. Sweet, brown sugar creamy taste with some spices evident. Even finish. Not a huge fan of the style but I really enjoyed it. Gethinbeer (997), Nova Scotia, Canada Jan 12, 2008 From bottle.Nutty aroma. Hazelnut brown in colour with an off white head. Rich, smooth, nutty flavour. Nutty finish. I found the beer a little soapy and too sweet. Got sickly towards the end. Sounded like a promising ale but I didn’t enjoy the beer as much as I had hoped for. dsm (109), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Jan 11, 2008 Bottle. Pours a reddish brown, no head, a lot of lacing. The aroma is sweet, creamy, nutty, and malt. This is a very good brown ale - it is sweet but not too sweet, and the hazelnut, malt, and nutty flavors complement each other really well. It adds up to a complex but relaxed and understated brew.
