22 oz. Bottle This was my first experience with Rogue beers. I have used in cooking, and drinking applications :) It goes great in a swiss onion soup. It poured a really nice dark brown color with a really nice tan head (nice and big too!). It’s aroma is awesome, dark malty, roasted nuts, sweet and caramel. I love the taste of this beer. It’s chocolaty, and all of the aromas translate directly to the taste of the beer. Nutty, malty, has a great mouthfeel, very very well balanced. I like it a lot!

Aroma of roasted nuts and malts. Deep brown color with superb lacing. Tasted amazing! I initially noticed the chocolate followed by a smooth finish of bread, walnut, and malty flavors. Lively carbonation and wonderful context on the way down. Overall this is the best brown ale I’ve had so far!

750ml: pint glass: gorgeous pour of opaque, deep mahagony, earthy brown leaving a 2 finger tan head. Nose has loads of malt and biscuit, dark sugars. Some caramel and strong nutty tones. The taste is deep and complex... the malts and biscuit are back, carried by a suprisingly creamy, medium bodied, medium carbonated texture. Aftertaste reveals very light hops as well as some roasted qualities. Great brew!

On tap at Portland Intl airport. Aroma: Roasted malt Flavor: very nutty, roasted malt, balanced with firm, underlying bitterness. Long, dry hazelnut finish Comments: Full bodied, The intitally rounded, soft mouthfeel is followed by some tongue tingling carbonation. Superb palate! Excellent flavor and balance. Most brown ales I’ve tried are bland and pretty dull; but not this one!

Bottle from Crown #6. Pours semi-clear reddish brown, minimal white head. Nose is heavy stale malt and a little discouraging. Flavor is dry and stale. There are hints of brown malt and hazelnut that poke through, but something has gone terribly wrong with this perticular bottle (I hope, just my bottle, not the batch). Mild carbonation and relatively easy going down. Just not what I’d hoped for.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium tan head. The aroma is very nutty, with hazelnut roast, chocolate, caramel malts, toast, brown sugar. The flavor is also delightful and pretty much follows the map laid out by the nose. Medium body, smooth, and a littly syrupy. Roasty finish. One of the best, if not the best, brown ales I’ve ever tried.

Bottle. Dark brown/nutty coloured beer with a strong light brown head. The aroma is oaty and chocolaty, and the flavour is chocolaty and gently bitter with a twang. Overall a nice bitter and chocolaty beer.
