Nov 17, 2007 Pours a nice brown. A light head with not much lacing. Real nutty aroma. Slightly sweet caramel/toffee. Drinkable and smooth. I would’ve liked a more hop flavor. Rogue has done a good job as usual though.

Smell: Very nutty, nice hazelnut aroma with a little bit of caramel and chocolate.
Taste: Not sweet, not bitter. What I got was a very mellow, creamy, nutty flavor, not strong at all. It reminds me of a hazelnut coffee with way too much cream so that a lot of the intense flavor is gone. Minuscule hop presence. Aftertaste is nutty then roasted coffee.
Flavor is good but if it packed the appeal of the smell it would be great.
Other: Carbonation was a lot higher in this one. It messed with my taste buds. Viscosity was rather thin but left a creamy coating in your mouth.

Nov 17, 2007 Really good. Smooth, hazelnutty, malty. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Some coffee/chocolate aroma with the hazelnut.. Smooth aftertaste. One of my new favorite beers, wish it weren’t so expensive.

Nov 16, 2007 Nutty goodness! The hazelnut is very evident in the aroma and taste, especially after it warms a bit, but most of all in the finish, pleasant nutty aftertaste. nice malty beverage with subtle hops. I could drink this very regularly.

The hazelnut taste is so enjoyable it almost makes you feel like you are chewing on some... Delicious, and without a doubt my favorite Brown thus far.

Nov 15, 2007 From bottle : Pours a drak brown color with minimal head. A hazelnut and roasted aroma. Nice smooth mouthful. Taste is good, nice aftertaste, roasted. Quite a nice brown ale.

Nov 13, 2007 Enjoyable bomber, a very nice take on the style. Murky medium brown pour with a filmy tan head and splotchy lacing. A wonderful scent of creamy hazelnut and milk chocolate with some faint caramel and spicy star anise. Velvety smooth mouth feel, large malt body. The hazelnut flavor is very prominent, reminds me of one of my favorite morning coffee creamers. Butterscotch and tame chocolate along with some expected floral hop flavors. Taste is rounded out be a strong nutty malt flavor and some light coffee. Great variation on a classic style, I really enjoyed the strong hazelnut presence.

Nov 12, 2007 Initial aroma and appearance were impressive. Whatever you do, do not drink this beer ice cold. True taste was pleasant when drank at around 65+ degrees. Finished flat and watery without much of an obvious Hazelnut hint Use of Crystal Malts is misleading, not as caramely as one would wish. Deffenatley room for improvement. Nice attempt, one can see what the intent was on this one.
