kevin62 (267), New Jersey, USA Nov 10, 2007 This beer poured out to a brown color witha tall tan head.Aromas of brown sugar, malt, toffee.Taste was pretty dominated by the hazenut which was ok,I guess, especially after it warmed up a bit. raymondwave (867), Finland Nov 9, 2007 Updated: Jan 25, 2008Bottle, Solvang, CA. Brown. What a strange brew, very nutty. After a few sips I read the ingredients and noticed there is actual hazelnut extract and that’s what it tastes like. It’s like those flavored coffee drinks you get from Starbucks. Really difficult to consider this as a real beer. Some coffee, chocolate. newshound (20), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Nov 6, 2007 5 words: Pecan Waffles With Maple Syrup. That’s what this beer smells and tastes like - especially as it warms up. Had a tall bottle at The Ginger Man in Austin, TX. Nice nutty appeal, sweeter than most nut brown type beers. Very enjoyable. Packed a nice little buzz before The Avett Brothers concert - nice combo. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA Nov 5, 2007 10-7-07 bottle. Brown color (shocking, huh?) with short lived head. Subtle malty aroma with strange bready overtones. A bit on the watery bland side for me. Not great but not bad by any means. I just think there are better Browns out there. Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Nov 2, 2007 Pours a hazy rich brown color with cramy tan head. Aroma of hazelnut, toffee and light chocolate. Taste is of hazelnut, liht vanilla, toffe, caramel and light chocolate. Very creamy, smooth and well balance Excellent. AOF (282), Naperville, Illinois, USA Nov 1, 2007 Dark brown, reddish amber color. Full off white head. Fairly sweet aroma. Definitely sense the hazelnuts. Also some hints of toffee and slighty toasted malt. Light to medium in body and nicely carbonated. Normally not the biggest fan of the browns, but this one was pretty good. glennmastrange (807), hobe sound, Florida, USA Oct 29, 2007 Bottle. Aroma starts with a heavy dose of malt. Hazelnut, milk chocolate and roasted stand right out, with light grass for the hops and light dough for the yeast, and toffee in th background. Head is fizzy and off white and gone way too quick with no lacing. Color is brown (maybe that’s where they got the name brown ale). Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium watery and a carbonation that’s between lively and fizzy. Though a little lacking in taste, aroma is what really makes this beer. WickerBrew (312), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 29, 2007 Well here is a sweet brown, I love it. I can definetly taste the Hazelnut extract, its like someone poured some Frangelico in there. Possibily my #1 choice for a dessert beer. Normally I am an IPA man, but sometimes you gotta switch it up.
