That’s what this beer smells and tastes like - especially as it warms up. Had a tall bottle at The Ginger Man in Austin, TX. Nice nutty appeal, sweeter than most nut brown type beers. Very enjoyable. Packed a nice little buzz before The Avett Brothers concert - nice combo. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Subtle malty aroma with strange bready overtones. A bit on the watery bland side for me. Not great but not bad by any means. I just think there are better Browns out there. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 1, 2007 Dark brown, reddish amber color. Full off white head. Fairly sweet aroma. Definitely sense the hazelnuts. Also some hints of toffee and slighty toasted malt. Light to medium in body and nicely carbonated. Normally not the biggest fan of the browns, but this one was pretty good. glennmastrange (846), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2007 Bottle. Aroma starts with a heavy dose of malt. Hazelnut, milk chocolate and roasted stand right out, with light grass for the hops and light dough for the yeast, and toffee in th background. Head is fizzy and off white and gone way too quick with no lacing. Color is brown (maybe that’s where they got the name brown ale). Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium watery and a carbonation that’s between lively and fizzy. Though a little lacking in taste, aroma is what really makes this beer. WickerBrew (312), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 29, 2007 Well here is a sweet brown, I love it. I can definetly taste the Hazelnut extract, its like someone poured some Frangelico in there. Possibily my #1 choice for a dessert beer. Normally I am an IPA man, but sometimes you gotta switch it up. KimJohansen (6921), Copenhagen V, Denmark

Poured a deep ruby with minimal head. Aroma is dry, and somewhat spicy. Flavour has a nice nutty bite, with a pleasant alcoholic oakiness. Dry nutty finish. Would repeat again at a lesser price.
