Shared a big brown bottle into a schooner glass, thanks gregwilsonstl! It poured a mostly clear red-tinged medium brown color with moderate beige foam and good Belgian lace. Surprisingly weak aroma: just a hint of caramel, hazelnuts, almost no hops or yeast aspects. Strong flavors came across, though: complex malt bill, caramelized brown sugar, husky grains, burnt toast, strong nutty/tannin-y tastes from the hazelnuts. Light-medium body. Well-rounded, chewy mouthfeel. Overall, not very bready or fruity. Definitely an extremely dry interpretation of "English nut brown ale." Good not great.

Smells like a nice beer. Homogenous appearance throughout. Nice brown color. Taste is complex. One of the best browns I’ve ever had. Palate similarly complex and rewarding. I found this beer in a 750 mL bottle at my local Costco. Good beer to give as a gift for sharing and celebration. Would not drink a whole bottle in one sitting myself.

Pours a copper brown color with an off white head. Caramel, chocolate, malt and hazelnut aroma. Chocolate, caramel, pale and roasted malt, hazelnut, toffee and some raisin flavors. Medium body and carbonation with a smooth but not quite creamy mouth feel. Hazelnut and caramel finish.

Pours a slighty reddish brown with about a finger of light tan head. Some brown sugar and dark fruit in the nose. Very rich, velvety chocolate with hazelnut notes that fades into a slight burnt toast aftertaste. Very sweet, pretty delicious.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
355 ml bottle bought at YATA in Grand Century Place, Mong Kok.
Translucent ruby brown colour; Very thin head and off-white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Small sticky lacing and notable slight carbonation; Aroma of chocolate, hazelnut, light roasted malt, nuts, molasses, light dark fruit and light cream; Mid to light sweet taste of light roasted malt, with light chocolate, cream, nuts, shades of dark fruits, light lemon and grass; Light body, watery palate; Taste profile is dominated by nutty, light roasted malt surrounded by light milk chocolate and hazelnuts. Some dark fruit taste shows up briefly, but otherwise pretty empty; Hoppiness is almost zero hop nose, adequate lime and grassy taste. Notable but fairly low bitterness for semi-finish; Wet after taste; Quite nutty and very easy to mouth.
Comments: This one is only half successful: it has the advertised hazelnut smell and taste, and a pretty nutty character. As a Brown Ale, though, it’s too watery, roasted malt is thin, too little cream and chocolate, and Perle / Sterling hoppiness is nowhere to be found. Feel like drinking a void. An ambitious Brown ended up with empty promises. Not again!

From 22oz. bottle to shaker. Pour is a very deep copper, barely transcluscent. Very thick and creamy khaki head. Nose is odd, definite roasted malt, caramel, slight chocolate, nut aroma as well. The taste is great, medium bodied, very slight hop bitterness for balance but overall sweet. Very creamy mouthfeel, light carbonation with an awesome malty smooth finish. Great beer, definitely will grab this from my warehouse again.

Botella de 65 cl. En el lupulo. Color ambar cobrizo casi a marrón.
