On tap WJ Kavanaghs Dublin. Pours dark brown with no head or lacing. Nice hazelnut aroma. Thin but balanced mouthfeel. Hazelnut chocolate taste without being cloying. Nutty finish. Very drinkable

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle from Dronfield Beer Stop - Cloudy muddy brown body, no head. Nose is dusty nuts, overwhelmingly so. The taste is equally nutty, but not in a good way. Not a fan of this one and rather disappointing.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle poured into shaker: Dark reddish brown with a tan head. The aroma was roasted nut, caramel and chocolate. It has a smooth malty flavor with a chocolate and a little bit of espresso flavor. A very creamy and medium body ale. Very enjoyable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Light brown pour. Aroma of malt and hazelnut, bit too mild. Taste of creamy hazelnut, with some spices, brown malt, pumpkin and a nutty bitter finish. Thin body, but a nice beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I keep telling myself that this is a brown ale and itís really not going to be a viscous pour, so as dark as it is, Iím not surprised when it flows out of the bottle at about the rate of an RC cola. (Dating myself?)
The liquid is a toasted honey-brown and light-bodied. It threatens to go over the top of the mug with a fat, delicate head that is so ambitious, I actually have to sip the foam down to a level that is compatible with a good photo. :-) Itís gone in minutes, leaving only a thin stream of islands across the surface.
Head aside, the first drag demonstrates a fairly light-bodied beverage, nicely carbonated and tasting of slightly overdone chocolate chip cookies without the chips. A deep vanilla and toasted hazelnut make a play for my sweet tooth; silky warm malts seal the deal. Iím hooked on this Rogue and am happily surprised by the tempting and creamy texture despite the lightness of the beer.
The finish is decadent, keeping the flavor true to the end and inviting me to enjoy yet another go...

12oz bottle bb04/2015, Maruhn. Mistook this for a porter instead of a brown ale... Pours a quite thin caramel brown. Instant full-wallop hazelnut concentrate in the nose, an immediate flashback to the 90s and its hazelnut-infused espresso shots with a generous helping brown sugar. Cherry Coke says Hi, wearing its glitzy shoulder pads. Taste is a supremacy of inferior Nutella spread and roasted hazelnuts ruining a palpably decent, if watery brown ale underneath, the delicate citrus zing of Saaz and Perle peeping gently from underneath the cheap nutty overload at the very end like the innocent glint in the eye of a shy first-time bukkake victim caught off guard in a cheap motel. Why this racy kitsch when hazelnut flavours can be had as a nuance of roasted malts? (Cf. Hermann Broch: Das BŲse im Wertsystem der Kunst.)

Very sweat. Too sweat. Wasnít expecting it to be this sweat. Go with the Alesmith Nut Brown. Really not a bad beer, just not what I wanted.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown beer with a white head that quickly disapears. Taste is nutty, earth tones, sweet nectar and some hops. Nice one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Minimal haze. Sweet hazelnut dominated aroma, with toffee, caramel and roasty notes. Some chocolate and roasty flavours buried within a largely sweet hazelnut dominated flavour. The label is bang on. Hazelnut nectar indeed. Some dark malt bitterness and a slight astringency. In no way sessionable, but itís not intended to be I donít believe.
