3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Reviewed 2/20/13. 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass.
A: Pours a dark chestnut color. The head is a one finger light mocha shade featuring a good texture, but not much retention.
S: Strongly nutty - not just in terms of hazelnut, but other variants like almonds, walnuts, and pecans come through. Aromatically, itís pretty much just peanut butter-esque with not much else to give any other depth. But that one note? Itís extremely inviting and enjoyable.
T: Much sweeter than the aroma, and veering dangerously to artificial in terms of how it comes off. The flavor profile is hazelnut...and thatís about it. Decidedly one note, and that solitary note has flaws to it. I donít hate it by any stretch, though.
M: The general texture is kind of thin and even insubstantial. Despite that, thereís a lot of coarse finishing astringency that comes off slightly clashing with the sweetness and limp body. Hell, it even manages to be both watery AND sugary in its finish. Only thing it does right here is ease of drinkability.
O: Not particularly likable aside from the aroma; Iím glad I only bought a single of these and wouldnít buy it again. Having said that, itís a good choice for hazelnut lovers - because letís face it, the flavor is nothing BUT that. If this and Frangelic Mountain Brown have taught me anything, itís that hazelnut beers give off great aromatic qualities...and not so great flavor profiles.

Drank from bottle. A nutty taste but nothing special. Perhaps better consumed from glass.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Brown as can be expected. Fuller palate than anticipated. Aroma was faint with hints of nut. The hazelnut was more pronounced through the flavor with a pretty malt base. Decent and got better as it warmed.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours a dark brown with a small head. Smells malty and nutty. Taste is sweet, and not necessarily bitter, but a nutty taste is definitely there. The first rogue beer iíve drank and I could not be happier!.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours clear, dark brown. Small white head. Smell is bit sweet, some chocolate undertone as well as malts. Taste is surprisingly bitter. Hazelnut-cacao strikes in the next move, and against all expectations, this beer can still be called balanced. The hazelnut-flavor strongly builds up the more you drink though, yet with a name like this, what else did you expect? I happen to like the taste so yeah, for me this is quite a good beer ! Average body for the ABV, yet very intense taste. Carbo level is where it should be .
On the other hand, I would love a version with less bitterness, perhaps, and a thicker MF. Perhaps also more intense chocolate aroma that is now rather hidden, if not imagined by myself.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
6% ABV. Brown ale.
Tapped out a rich dark amber brown, something around 25įSRM. Thin head of light brown small compact bubbles. Visually, a very inviting start.
The nose had a pleasantly light sweet rice aroma. In Singapore, a local desert of steamed fluffy rice cakes, ma ko kueh has the same beautiful aroma. There are predictably nutty aromas suggesting hazelnuts (duh!), brazil nuts and acorns. There are hints of darks sweet cherries.
Mouthfeel was light and clean with just enough carbonation to allow the fairly abundant palate to be highlighted and appreciated.
Goes on favorites list.

355ml bottle from Whole Food Market, Giffnock:
A real surprise to me, unusual but highly drinkable with a solid hazelnut & plenty of sweetness. The balance was good & the beer smooth,a really impressive offering from a beer I wasnít particularly looking forward to either.

Tasted from the tap on the 12/06/2015. Nut brown colour with a good retention and lazing head. The beer is dominated for the Hazelnuts, milk and cocoa. Very good and refreshing. I really like it. Next one please!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz single bottle from Mollyís Spirits. Deep brown appearance with a tan head that eventually dissipates. Aroma of dark malts, bitter chocolate, hazelnut, toffee, caramel and light hop spice. Similar flavor, rich and mildly sweet with a light earthy bitterness. Medium body. A nice brown ale overall.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Sensoric. Bottle. Deep brown with medium, semi-densed, beige Head. Really nice hazelnut aroma along with some caramel and toffee. Also light roasted malts aroma. In general semi-sweet with some dry-accents in the finish. The taste is not so complex and nice as aroma. In general brown ale is not exciting beer style, but this one is worth trying. The only cons is artificial hazelnut aroma I think
