Reviewed 2/20/13. 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass. A: Pours a dark chestnut color. The head is a one finger light mocha shade featuring a good texture, but not much retention. S: Strongly nutty - not just in terms of hazelnut, but other variants like almonds, walnuts, and pecans come through. Aromatically, itís pretty much just peanut butter-esque with not much else to give any other depth. But that one note? Itís extremely inviting and enjoyable. T: Much sweeter than the aroma, and veering dangerously to artificial in terms of how it comes off. The flavor profile is hazelnut...and thatís about it. Decidedly one note, and that solitary note has flaws to it. I donít hate it by any stretch, though. M: The general texture is kind of thin and even insubstantial. Despite that, thereís a lot of coarse finishing astringency that comes off slightly clashing with the sweetness and limp body. Hell, it even manages to be both watery AND sugary in its finish. Only thing it does right here is ease of drinkability. O: Not particularly likable aside from the aroma; Iím glad I only bought a single of these and wouldnít buy it again. Having said that, itís a good choice for hazelnut lovers - because letís face it, the flavor is nothing BUT that. If this and Frangelic Mountain Brown have taught me anything, itís that hazelnut beers give off great aromatic qualities...and not so great flavor profiles.

Clear red/brown with a medium, quickly-diminishing, beige head. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, caramel malt. Taste is low sweet with a bitter finish. Good.

Very tasty brew. Smooth nutty flavor. Malty, caramel. Has this many times, but just realized I never rated it. A touch flat.

Bottle (from Koht). Pours brown with beige head. The head doesnít stay. Aroma is hazelnut, malt, sweetness. Flavor is sweet, hazelnut, malt, caramel. Finish is hazelnut and dry bitterness. Overall: not a fan of brown ales, but this is delicious stuff.

Bottle from hop hideout, sheffield. Copper with very little head. Aroma is toffee and honey, chocolate and nuts. Taste is sweet and sticky, a touch bitter too. Nice light body with medium carbonation compliments the big sticky flavours. Very nice.

The color is beautiful dark brown with a foam that unfortunately does not last as long as I could wish. It smells not of much, but you sense a little malt sweetness and hop and can also easily sense a refreshing scent of hazelnuts. Taste dominated first place the hazelnuts on a soft and comfortable way. After this, the taste of the comfortable hop bitterness which also has a comfortable sweetness included. It all replaced by a long and pleasant aftertaste of hazelnuts, but you get pretty fast like a new sip to again experience the explosion of taste happens in the mouth! I think it will go really well with lightly spiced dishes, such as chicken and pork.

355 ml bottle from Jumbo, gift from Daniel Sovino, thanks mate!. Pours a slightly hazy brown color with a medium off-white head that diminishes into a thin film which lingers. Not overly intense aroma but it shows a dense nutty character. The most obvious notes of hazelnut are complimented by caramel coated peanuts, chestnuts, walnuts, coconut bark, brown sugars. Taste is very nutty as well with bready touches. A hint of caramel adds some sweetness but itís harmless compared to the walnut slightly bitter character. Moderate intensity. Like a high-end, high-fermentation version of a South American "malta". Medium body, slick, medium to low carbonation. Highly drinkable, standard Brown Ale.
