Pours dark brown. Smells like roasted malts and nuts. Taste is med and dark roasted malts and hops, sweet hazelnut and a little earth. Interesting flavors, but the hazelnut comes on a little too strong for my liking and seems like artificial flavoring. Interesting.

Sicuramente è una ottimo esperimento, perchè al naso si sente davvero la nocciola, però ahimè secondo me in bocca tradisce un pò, forse perchè avendola bevuta on tap non era in grande forma. Non mi ha convinto...

Bottle from saveur-biere.com. Red/brown slightly hazy body with small beige head. Aroma is hazelnut, hazelnut and hazelnut. Great! Some toast, caramel and chocolate in the background. Taste is similar, dominant hazelnut, with some more raisin, earth and a subtle roastyness. And although there almost is no bitterness (just very little in the finish), it isn’t too sweet. Greatly balanced! The mouthfeel is medium, oily, with a good carbonation and a smooth toasty and slightly astringent finish. Quaffable, unique, very good!

Smells like a nice beer. Homogenous appearance throughout. Nice brown color. Taste is complex. One of the best browns I’ve ever had. Palate similarly complex and rewarding. I found this beer in a 750 mL bottle at my local Costco. Good beer to give as a gift for sharing and celebration. Would not drink a whole bottle in one sitting myself.

Pours a slighty reddish brown with about a finger of light tan head. Some brown sugar and dark fruit in the nose. Very rich, velvety chocolate with hazelnut notes that fades into a slight burnt toast aftertaste. Very sweet, pretty delicious.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
355 ml bottle bought at YATA in Grand Century Place, Mong Kok.
Translucent ruby brown colour; Very thin head and off-white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Small sticky lacing and notable slight carbonation; Aroma of chocolate, hazelnut, light roasted malt, nuts, molasses, light dark fruit and light cream; Mid to light sweet taste of light roasted malt, with light chocolate, cream, nuts, shades of dark fruits, light lemon and grass; Light body, watery palate; Taste profile is dominated by nutty, light roasted malt surrounded by light milk chocolate and hazelnuts. Some dark fruit taste shows up briefly, but otherwise pretty empty; Hoppiness is almost zero hop nose, adequate lime and grassy taste. Notable but fairly low bitterness for semi-finish; Wet after taste; Quite nutty and very easy to mouth.
Comments: This one is only half successful: it has the advertised hazelnut smell and taste, and a pretty nutty character. As a Brown Ale, though, it’s too watery, roasted malt is thin, too little cream and chocolate, and Perle / Sterling hoppiness is nowhere to be found. Feel like drinking a void. An ambitious Brown ended up with empty promises. Not again!
