22oz bottle sampled at the Rogue tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits. Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt and hazelnuts. Flavor is creamy hazelnut up front with a light hop finish. Still one of the better brown ales I’ve had.

Crushed with Jakebra. Incredibly drinkable brown ale. Not so robust as subtle and excellent. The finish floods the mouth with a extra kick of awesomeness. Damn fine brown ale.

Tasted like a very nice bitter with some added chocolate taste to the flavour. Awesome beer, but a rip-off at the LCBO. (I might buy another though, its that good)

Poured from the large bottle into a pint glass. The aroma was a nutty, malt caramel mix coupled with some earthy hops and a touch of citrus hops. It had a dark brown color with a reddish hue and a big creamy tan head with decent retention. A sweet, nutty flavor with a bit of somewhat bitter, earthy hops flavoring mixed in. The beer was very wet and a bit watery, and just a tad on the thin side with moderate carbonation. A very solid, but not spectacular beer.

Pours a deep burgundy to brownish colour with a thick tan head. Nose is very nutty, and smells fairly dry. There’s not much sweetness or hops there. A tiny bit of malt, sort of like porridge or something, but still pretty tasty smelling. Flavour is very similar, lots of nuts, and some chocolate. There is some hoppy bitterness in there, but just a hint, definitely balanced to the malty side. This isn’t terribly descriptive, but it actually tastes brown. I don’t know that I’ve ever had hazelnuts, but I’d imagine it must be like this beer, because it is sort of nutty, but not quite what I’d expect. Mouthfeel is unlike most other beers, it’s creamy, but it’s also very light feeling. I suspect it’s pretty dry, there’s not much residual sweetness. Very different, but quite enjoyable.
