JohnQPublic (162), Brooklyn, New York, USA Apr 29, 2008 Bomber, into Sam Adams lager glass. Pours Pours a hazy dark brown, with a small tan head that doesn’t last long. Aroma is roasted hazelnut, chocolate. Taste starts off with hazelnut, very roasty, nutty, finishing bitter with deeply roasted hazelnut and flavors of dark bread crust, slightly bitter. Mouthfeel is highly carbonated, moderate body, not quite watery but not full either.
KyotoLefty (110), Kyoto, Japan Sep 1, 2008 On tap at McGloughlin’s in Kyoto. Deep brown and frothy. Like a chocolate hazelnut malted milkshake. Rich, thick, creamy, and full of the flavors of nuts, caramel, chocolate, and lightly roasted dark malts. A real treat, though definitely cloying, and more than two starts to make me dizzy. Cory (4), , California, USA does not count Aug 31, 2008 Bottle. Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar has a suprisingly mild nut taste. Very smooth accross the palate The best part in my opinion was the nutty aroma. Great beer but i wouldn’t go to any great lengths to get my hands on it. rane (359), Nibe, Denmark Aug 30, 2008 Bottle. Brown with pale brown head quickly disappearing. Matly aroma, bread and nutts. Taste very malty maybe some nuts.
Another anonymus brown ale. I don´t quite understand the high ratings. I prefer Jackie Brown. alexanderj (1239), San Diego, California, USA Aug 29, 2008 On tap at Yard House Brea; remember having this a couple years ago and not liking it; that has definitely changed. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, caramel and butter. Flavor was the same; sweet with buttery nuts. Good on the palate. Nice color. Very good for the style. beer_chugger (44), Colorado, USA Aug 26, 2008 Upon pouring, a nice thick head forms and it smells of chocolate and nutty aromas. The taste is much of the same. Like chocolate covered nuts. There are noticeable roasted malts in the overall taste as well. Finish is nice and smooth. Another fine quality brew from Rogue.
