| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 15, 2009 Courtesy Americanbrew. Pours a very dark mahogany almost black in color with a small, dark khaki head of foam that leaves minimal spots of lacing on the glass. The aroma is like a liquid hershey’s chocolate bar with subtle notes of roasted caramel and floral hops. The milk chocolate dominates the nose and it smells great. The flavor is rich and decadent with all varieties of chocolate with notes of roast and floral hops that fall short to the massive chocolate flavors. They meant business with this chocolate stout. The body is on the fuller side of medium and very smooth on the palate and finishing a little sticky with some roasty chocolate. The alcohol is completely hidden, and that is really nice. This is a great beer from Rogue, and probably my favorite from them to date. thirdeye11 (564), Texas, USA

Nose of chocolate syrup. Taste is thick and syrupy with almost too much chocolate. Sweet, light hop backbone with a crisp finish that is rich and chocolaty. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 10, 2009 Deep black brown pour. Tan head. The nose is loaded with rich sweet milk chocolate. Loads of rich, sweet dark chocolate. Sweet and chewy but without any of the artificial sweetness that I get from ST Choklat. It’s actually a really 1-D beer, but that one dimension happens to be awesome. Beerlando (2364), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 5, 2009 Courtesy juiceisloose. Pours a dark mahogany to nearly black color, with just a glint of translucency showing at the edges. A small, dark brown head of froth leaves scattered, sugary, micro-spot lacing marks on the glass. The aroma is initially like pure Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Further exploration reveals notes of caramel, minimal roast, and a slight touch of bitter, grassy hops, but the massive chocolate avalanche remains the dominating component. Flavors are similarly decadent, if not more one dimensional. Chocolate of several varieties rules the roost, with hints of grassy hops and coffee roast fighting one another for a distant second place finish. Medium-full bodied and valvety, the palate is initially smooth, finishing slightly sticky. The alcohol is completely buried within, which is nice. Very, very nice brew. Great effort from Rogue. travita (1970), Frisco, Texas, USA

The smell is very chocolate, very nice, candy bar like, if you like chocolate you like this. The taste is more of the same with a nice bitter chocolate taste. The look is very dark black with a nice tan head. sebletitje (2000), Tampa, Florida, USA

Pours dark brown, insane thick mocha head, golden lacing.
Aroma huge amount of chocolate and roasted malts.
Flavor was similar to aroma, a whole mouthful of pure chocolate goodness.
Plain chocolate bomb, felt as chewing chocolate. Fairly simple in concept, but thick and tasty. When Rogue said chocolate, they were serious.
