tupalev (2285), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 3, 2005 Small Bottle. Cloudy orange, with a really thick white head. Very strong fresh hop aroma, but not overpowering, just inviting. Taste is intense - very hoppy but again, nor hop juice overkill - more of a balance of hops not dominated by Cascades. These types of beers can get too syrupy for my liking as well but this one remained remarkably balanced. I was too busy with all the flavours to notice the alcohol. A wonderful balanced beer - I will measure all other beers of this style to this one from now on.
highibus (235), Vail, Arizona, USA Aug 19, 2008 on tap at 1702 small head with nice golden to amberr color. nice hop aroma. but the hops really come through on the flavor. chewy and resinous. good finish. nice beer. jbuzz (449), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Aug 18, 2008 IPS tasting at Three Cellars Milwaukee.
Unimpressed. A very basic lighter hopped IPA. rthbass (13), Vancouver, Washington, USA Aug 17, 2008 On tap at Rogue in Portland.
One of the best double IPAs. Beautiful orange, cloudy color. Very balanced with a great mouth feel. Mes_and_Sim (4176), London, Greater London, England Aug 17, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle at GBBF. This is really good and certainly one of Rogues finest. Had this from one of the big stone XS bottles thanks to the brewer from Kelburn who’s name I sadly can’t remember. A full on U.S. double IPA. The pale malt is waaaay in the background and there is possibly just a little too much cascade but overall this is very good stuff. Drinkable for the strength, some lovely grapefruit notes and a big stinging bitter finish. A little too much alcohol showing for this to be a real gem but, simple as it may be, this is very tasty stuff. Soonah (481), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Aug 13, 2008 On tap. Poured a dullish copper color with a nice white to off-white head that had persistence and good rings of lacing. The aroma was floral, pine and herbal hops with citrus aromas being minimal and the malt cutting through only a bit. The flavor was pine and floral hops dominated with sweeter malt and some light citrus chiming in. Super dry. Decent. I’m glad I got to try this without having to buy one of those overpriced ceramic bombers.
