Rich caramel/tofee malt aroma with some peach and citrus hops, alcohol, and an underlying earthiness. Sweet toffee malts with an ample piney and orangey hop background. Moderate to full hoppy finish with some lingering bitterness on the tongue. Slightly oily palate. Pretty good 2IPA, though there’s no attribute which elevates this above the rest. Spending the extra cash for the special ceramic bottle is annoying, and I’m wondering if it really makes a difference. At least the empty might be used as some kind of "found art" piece. glennmastrange (869), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 13, 2007 Bottle. Heavy hop aromas of herbs, pine and grapefruit and light aromas of straw, soap and raisin. There was only a minimal head and color was a murky orange/tan with tiny particles. Taste was sweet and tart with a long dry finish and just a slight let down because of the lack of balance. Body is medium and texture is oily with soft carbonation. Round out the flavors on this beer and it could be a classic. SuzyGreenberg (1411), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 8, 2007 On draught at Ginger Man in Austin. Pours transparent amber with small head (at least the way it was poured). Aroma is absolutely scrumptious -- serious fruit, citrus, and pine. Nice, long bitter finish as a double IPA should be. Quite tasty. At 9.5%, not a session beer, but the alcohol is well hidden in the hop flavors. So hoppy and strong that only one dried out my mouth. Delicious. I would definitely grab another in the future. hoplover406 (204), Crofton, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 4, 2007 Updated: Apr 27, 2007The best thing I can say about my $16 ceramic bottle of this stuff is that it has a TREMENDOUS aroma! Hop aroma is just over the top, leading you to expect a very nice DIPA....Don’t get your hopes up. Lacing is very nice, color is kind of pale for this style, a hazy gold. Flavor is pretty bland for an Imperial IPA. Nice presentation can’t make up for average representation. hopslovin (181), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 4, 2007 I had this twice, both out of the ceramic bottle. I had to get another bottle, because I thought I was missing something in the first due to the higher scores on RB. Pours huge lasting white foamy head. Cloudy yellow pour, pine taste, antiseptic bitter finish. Fancy ceramic bottle does not do anything for this beer but add cost ($13 per bottle). I will re-rate when I have tried this beer from a glass bottle. Brewpot (21), West Burlington, Iowa, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 4, 2007 Pours a hazy copper color with an orange tint. Short lived off white head. Complex aroma; fresh hops, spruce or pine needles, grapefruit. Sweet malts give way to a nicely bitter (grapefruit) and well balanced dry finish. Maria (6345), Thisted, Denmark
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 1, 2007 Orange-golden with a nice creamy head. The aroma is hoppy and nice with notes of fruit, pine and resin. The flavour is hoppy with notes of fruit, citrus and resin, a brief caramel sweetness sneaks in before the long and nicely bitter finish. It’s nice for sure, but I wouldn’t have minded a bit more complexity. 1895
