COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Above and beyond an India Pale Ale--I2PA is radically hopped with an intense aroma and hop bitterness. Unfiltered and aged for 9 months before it leaves the brewery--not for the faint of heart. I2PA is brewed with two-row Pipkin Pale malts, Saaz, Cascade and Northwest Golding hops.

Draft at the Rogue Public House in Astoria - Poured a darkish orange-amber in color with a light tan head that hung on until the end. Aroma was strong of citrus/grapefruit hops with some flowery hints as well. Palate was fairly thick and smooth. Flavor was absolutely bursting with hops... citrus, pine resin... YUM! Not much for a malt balance, but I don’t really care. Healthy bitter finish. There are certainly better IIPAs out there, but this one won’t be beat by all that many. I enjoyed this one a lot.

Draft sample at Beer Run. Pours a clear copper color with a thin white head that quickly fades. Aroma of resin and peppery hops. The taste is bitter resin hops with pale malts. Medium bodied. Basically just hop juice with no balance. Disappointing, but that’s to be expected from Rogue.

Pours hazy gold, with small amount of white head. Aroma is intense hops, floral, pine and citrus, with some caramel maltyness smells awesome. Taste is very heavily malty, on the front end, it almost taste like really sugary oatmeal for some reason. Mouthfeel is also thick and syrupy, but not overly so. Some bitterness on the back end, piney and floral hop notes, little bit of citrus. Pretty tasty stuff, not as hoppy as I was expecting.

Pours reddish orange with a tiny white head. Massive aroma of fresh grapefruit, hops and caramel malts. Taste has a massive amount of same fresh fruits. slightly hoppy finish. Quite a fruitbomb.

Bottle (extra small 7oz = 200ml c.a) @ Bir&Fud bottega. Amber/copper color, filtered appearance with just some suspension, white head good lacing. would we like to talk about the label? it’s just damned cool. Aroma of pine, malt, little bit of caramel, citrus, grapefruit, hops. Aroma of sweet malt, resin, pine, hops, citrus. honey. Bitter finish. medium body quite carbonated. bottom lines: a straight quite simple DIPA. good, well made and perfectly in style but don’t expect fireworks from it like all the other rogues.

10/01/2012 Bir&Fud Bottega (355ml bottle). Ambrata, lievemente torbida, schiuma bianco sporca abbastanza persistente. Aroma di malto, caramello, luppolo, agrumato, resina. In bocca ha un attacco maltato, caramellato, dolciastro, quindi un finale luppolato, deciso, persistente, abbastanza secco. Straordinaria al palato, correttamente carbonata. Classica Double IPA americana, molto buona, ben fatta e godibile.

Bottle to snifter. Pour produced a bronze/orange colored body with khaki-ish colored head that died off rapidly. Left some sloppy lacing around the glass. Nose is huge herbal hops. Lots of citrus, mainly grapefruit, and some pine in the mix. I didn’t get a whole lot of malt in the nose. This is very hop dominated (like a good ipa should be haha). Taste is loads of sharp, bitter grapefruit and some slight piney, resinous flavors. The flavor mellows out quite nicely to let some smooth caramel malts and a touch of honey sweetness to finish off the palate. Not bad at all and I dig the small bottle just not the price.
