Richly complex chocolate aroma with some piquant hopping. Deep, baking chocolate, black patent and citrus hop. Chocolatey hopped body with black patent and hop bitterness wrestling each other at the finish. Some dryness, and yes, a touch of tar. DaSilky1 (2033), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 11, 2009 Pours a dark brown, firm, somewhat spotty, but anti-dissapating head....looks exactly the same between 1 seconds after pour and 4 minutes after pour. Nose has bits of roasted malt and chocolate and touches od hop resin. Flavors are extremely roasty and mouthfeel, at least at first, is fairly wet. Fairly aggressive bitterness in the finish...the baltic porter style designation on hamilton’s blackboard is a little misleading...this is no doubt ale yeast at work here and hop levels that are completely a different language than baltic...but whatever. The flavors here are dry cocoa, bitter, powdery....almost a little lactic in the finish...tangled in with the bittering hops...not bad, but nothing intriging. hopscotch (5558), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 6, 2008 Draft... Pitch black with a small, creamy, beige head. Great retention. The aroma is of coffee and chocolate with touches of caramel, vanilla and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Burnt and bitter with blackstrap molasses. Finishes a touch thin and crisp. Thanks to juiceisloose for buying the pint! Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2006 Draft @ HDG. Oily blacy with a short lived tan head. Aroma is roasty with a nice hoppiness. Probably the hoppiest Baltic Porter I’ve had so far. The roastiness could improve a bit but the bitter chocolate flavor is spot on. Some anise in there as well. ante (2977), Stockholm, Sweden

Dryish aroma of pepper and dark chocolate with that familiar cracker-like Rouge note. Also picked up notes of nuts and cocoa. Nearly full-bodied with strong notes of cocoa, dark chocolate, crackers, black pepper and mild alcohol. Long bitter finish of cocoa, nuts, grass, alcohol, and crackers. jimbowood (983), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 25, 2009 Draft at Trappeze. Nice, malty, toasty, with a hint of alcohol. Nice, but I miss the old Rogue that used to push the envelope a little bit. rudolf (1789), Buffalo, New York, USA
