| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 18, 2009 Diminished taupe head atop a hazed umber body.Tiny bubbles form a sheet on the side of the glass. Big malty aromas with a backdrop of floral hops. Very much a barleywine scent with raisins and a berry jam. Dry malt start. Dry flowers and herbal hops in the middle. Rather dry and a bit of nuttiness. Fairly thin in feel, but not watery. Some fortified wine qualities with a mix of dry sherry. Just a strong ale. No real depth or complexity. topherh (900), Kearney, Missouri, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 14, 2009 Ceramic bottle. Pours hazy red with a thin head. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel and hops. Flavor is brown sugar, sweet malt, hoppy bitterness. Decent beer, but overpriced. Maybe they should put it and all of their other Imperials in a normal bottle and charge what they are worth. ruggedman (619), Portland, Maine, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2009 On tap at Novare Res. Holy crap, what a hoppy nose. Thick dense, and really cloudy this beer is a force to be reckoned with. Flavors are nice citrus hops and some very well chosen malts to compliment them. I’m a fan of this somewhat unsuspecting beer. arrogantb (700), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 4, 2009 I got a chance to try this thanks to a friend. Amber-red color, not much of a head. Smells malty, grainy, hmmm. Flavor has a little bit of hops but seems a lot more like a pumped up amber than what I think of as a hoppy red. This is nowhere near other imperial reds like OB Gordon. I feel sorry for anyone who actually paid the retail price on this beer....

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 26, 2008 Ceramic bottle. Reddish amber pour with a huge frothy tan head. Great lacing. Aroma of malt and hops. Overpowering sticky taste of malt with a bitter peppery hop and alcohol finish. Good, but the price tag was pretty steep. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 21, 2008 Bottle. Yes, as others have said, typically Rogue. Ridiculously overpriced, but very tasty. Aroma has sweet malts, along with caramel and fruit. Body is reddish, the head is moderately large off-white. Flavor smacks you with caramel, alcohol, a little chocolate and spiciness. Long spicy finish.
