Deserving the title "Emperor of Ales" (unlike the bourgeois "King of Beers"), Imperial is the strongest and fullest of all stouts. Imperials originally were brewed with large quantities of hops and a high alcohol content to withstand long, unrefrigerated journeys. Rogue Imperial Stout, considered the high end of stouts, is made of 2-row Great Western Harrington & Klages, Hugh Baird XLT-80, Black, Munich and Chocolate Malts; Willamette, Cascade and Chinook hops; rolled oats; and two secret ingredients. Unfiltered and unfined, Imperial Stout is best when aged for one year. Imperial Stout is available in a new 12-ounce bottle (replacing the older 7-ounce XS-line package) and on draft.

Now that’s what I’m talking about. Sweet but not too sweet from the hops. Bitter with citrus freshness from the hops. Just the right balance. Very drinkable.

7oz nip bottle, has to be at least 5 years old. Pours like a thick black cock. Aromas of soy sauce, pavement. Taste is dark chocolate and uncontrolled prison ass rape. Woody. Flavors of ass to mouth (male to male). Finished on a note of Chinese food wrapped in tin foil and grilled over a Mexican fire. Wow.

750 mL bottle. The pour is a thick oily black with a medium brown head that's a little fluffy and leaves great lacing. The aroma is a little strange for an imperial stout. The hops are throwing me. The roast is there but it's missing a lot of the good complexities. There is a light touch of licorice and just that hop presence. Not really what I'm looking for in a stout of this magnitude. The flavor is again surprisingly hoppy. This almost drinks like a cross between an imperial stout and a black IPA. The roast is there and really good. The hops are just stranger for the style, and the surrounding flavors are really light. Mostly hops and roasted malt here. The mouth feel is thick and viscousy, with a nice carbonation and a well-coating overall presence. The aftertaste is bitterly hoppy. Not among the good ones here ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is somewhat hoppy, cocoa, coffee. Appearance is black, brown head. Taste is hops, licorice, roasted malt, somewhat disappointingly light. Mouthfeel is damn thick, great carbonation. Overall...very disappointing for what I expected.
