COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deserving the title "Emperor of Ales" (unlike the bourgeois "King of Beers"), Imperial is the strongest and fullest of all stouts. Imperials originally were brewed with large quantities of hops and a high alcohol content to withstand long, unrefrigerated journeys. Rogue Imperial Stout, considered the high end of stouts, is made of 2-row Great Western Harrington & Klages, Hugh Baird XLT-80, Black, Munich and Chocolate Malts; Willamette, Cascade and Chinook hops; rolled oats; and two secret ingredients. Unfiltered and unfined, Imperial Stout is best when aged for one year. Imperial Stout is available in a new 12-ounce bottle (replacing the older 7-ounce XS-line package) and on draft.

My 3 year old daughter makes better tasting diarrhea than this shit. It’s like if the Hulk got real mad and ripped off some dirt from the road, used a high power blender on it and forced captain America to chug it (i am the captain America in this situation). Don’t drink it. If you want, fight me. I challenge you

750ml swingtop bottle, cellared for 1+ years. Roasted malt aroma with chocolate, coffee and hoppy notes. Pours black with a thin, light brown head and excellent lacing. Starts with coffee and some chocolate, the coffee not overpowering. Finishes dry with some hops as well as the roastiness of the malt. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught at Tadg. Black with dark tan head. Lots of chocolate and malts in the aroma. Flavour of burnt malts, coffee and smoke to go with the chocolate. Not too sweet. A very nice smooth mouthful.

Keg at Pig’s Ear Beer festival 2013, badged as XS Russian Imperial Stout. Toasty winey nose, immensely dry and roasty, rich and dry-bitter, touch of liquorice.

Draft. Poured black with almost no head. As with most imperial stouts you get a lot of coffee and sweetness in the nose. Taste has coffee, chocolate and a bit of hops. One of my favorite Rogue beers.

Growler. Very dark brown, nearly black with a small deep tan head. Aroma of black malt, chocolate, licorice, coffee and ash. Flavor is lots of bitter roasted malt, molasses, coffee and some alcohol. Full body with a smooth, lush mouth feel. This one if very strong, rich and bitter but nicely balanced.

7oz bottle @Lúpulo Feroz, Oviedo. Pours black with nice tan head. Good head retention, some lacing. Roasty, creamy, some sweet and coffee aromas. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Taste is creamy rich, smooth, some roasty, some vanilla, coffee, some liquor. More or less well balanced. Aftertaste is warm, liquor. Enjoyable.

10oz pour at Fireside. Very dark, thick and has a tan head of tight bubbles. Aroma is dominated by hops and roasted notes. Flavor is the same but chocolate and coffee start to come in as it warms up. Bitter from dark malts and from hops. Pretty good.
