COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deserving the title "Emperor of Ales" (unlike the bourgeois "King of Beers"), Imperial is the strongest and fullest of all stouts. Imperials originally were brewed with large quantities of hops and a high alcohol content to withstand long, unrefrigerated journeys. Rogue Imperial Stout, considered the high end of stouts, is made of 2-row Great Western Harrington & Klages, Hugh Baird XLT-80, Black, Munich and Chocolate Malts; Willamette, Cascade and Chinook hops; rolled oats; and two secret ingredients. Unfiltered and unfined, Imperial Stout is best when aged for one year. Imperial Stout is available in a new 12-ounce bottle (replacing the older 7-ounce XS-line package) and on draft.

750ml ceramic flip top bottle. 2007. Black pour, opaque. Finely beaded beige head, creamy. Black coffee aroma, chocolate notes. Flavour has some sweet coffeeish malt up front, finishes with a lot of bold citrus/grapefruit hops, bitterness holds on for a long finish. Black coffee and hop aftertaste. Full body, soft texture in the mouth. Pretty big beer, but easy to drink, the alcohol integrates well. Wish it were available in 12oz bottles.

Black no foam. Smell is mild roast. Taste is some roast bitterness - nice level; nor is it too sweet. Though not overly complex this is a great drinker. Just a mild sweetness on finish.

Crap. I already rated this and gave my witty/drunken comments but it didn't go through. Stupid wifi. Nice dark cocoa beer.

Well, it has a liquory sweet aroma. Very full body and extensive hoppiness. Wonderfully crafted. Like a meal! Motor oil black.

This is a 2011 bottle. Pours a gloopy opaque black with a thin short lived tan head. The nose is big and robust with a solid punch of roasted malt, light espresso and a good pinch of cocoa. Some moderate sweetness in the mid palate with a mixture of espresso beans, chocolate, earthy malts, vanilla and solid dark notes. The finish is bitter and warm with a lengthy aftertaste of roasty bitterness. A smooth but intense mouthfeel completes the package. A great brew to cellar

2008 vintage. Jet black with a light brown head that laces nicely as you drink. Strong roasted malt aroma. Rich mouthfeel with a potent but not overwhelming bitterness. Great beer.

Taste drips with rich malt, alcohol, black licorice and sips beautifully. Finishes on he same tasting notes , great sipper. Quaff Score 8 / 10
