mhoster56 (34), Fleetwood, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 11, 2006 Bottle. An exceptional imperial stout. This beer is rather comparable to Bell’s Expedition Stout. However, unlike Bell’s, one is not as easily overwhelmed by the high alcohol content of the beverage. It pours jet black and has a consistancy not unlike motor oil. Rogue imperial, while stark, explores a passionate relationship with one’s tastebuds, and is not overpowering in the least. The taster will experience hints of dark chocolate, caramel, and a sweet, as opposed to bitter, coffee flavor.

Aroma carries the roasted goodness of a stout immediately... Pours jet black with a frothy brown head. I might have to chisel the lacing off of the glass. Flavors are burnt, chocolaty malts, with a nicely balanced soy sauce note. The hops hold up in this one as well. I think that Cascade isn’t usually a hop that’s used in Imp Stout, and it gives this one a different character than most. The swallow is sweet, but the hops dry out the palate. jason (1500), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 21, 2008 2003 Bottle. Thanks Santa! Poured a deep black body with thin head. aroma is molassess, chocolate. Flavor is bitter chocolate, molasses, sweet malt. Slightly dry. This one aged well. J_Hunter (165), British Columbia, Canada Aug 20, 2008 pours very dark with a dark brown head. very sweet taste thick on the palate very good. Taverner (435), San Ramon, California, USA Aug 18, 2008 Ceramic bottle, 2007 Edition. Full of chocolate goodness. This is like drinking a dark, bittersweet chocolate bar. Flavors are deep chocolate, some coffee and some malty goodness. Nose has a touch of alcohol, but fades quickly to explose the deep chocolate flavor. saxo (2136), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark Aug 17, 2008 Ceramic bottle. 2006 version. Nice big creamy tan head with excellent duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are wood, roast malt, coffee and lots of fruit, which surprised me a bit. Very positive experience
