Bottle courtesy of Degarth. Thanks Joe. Kind of surprised this only has 60 ratings. Odd from a brewery this big, but I guess this didn’t make it a lot of places. Anyways, onto the beer. Amber body with some red in it. Soapy white head, 2 fingers thick, fully lasting and some nice lacing. Nose of grass, pine, oily resins, citrus hops, caramel and toffee malts and some light skunky notes. Flavor is heavy on the hops and pine notes, with a pretty nice malt backing to go along with it. Something just seems to be a little off in the flavor, but I really can’t pin it down. Light to medium bodied, some astringency. Oily palate, very slick mouthfeel. Finish is bitter and sweet from the caramel, medium lasting power. Decent.

Bottle. Hazy dark brown/orange with a patchy film of bubbles and a thin ring of bubbles. Nose-subdued, red rye, dusty, light rotten fruit. Taste-swept floor, medium bitter (perfect bitterness), light nut, malt, light grassiness. Good damn beer.

The body was medium ornage with a light khaki colored head. The aroma was sweet caramel with some orange zest. There was also a definite floral note. The taste has some grapefruit and caramel. There are also some peanut notes. This was nice, but nothing special.

22 oz ceramic pop-top bottle. Poured a deep orange color. Head was off white and left some lace behind. Aroma was of malty caramel and light grapefruity hops accented by a touch of husky grain. Slightly sweet on the tongue, but tempered by the mild hop bitterness. Tasted similar to the aroma; caramel and citrusy hops There was also a bit of alcohol that came out at then end. This was good, but I like the regular Younger’s better.

hazy amber, frothy beige head, strong well hopped dry caramel malt aroma, rich crystal malt flavor, well balanced with lots of hop flavor but only a touch of light bittterness in the finish, only a touch of sweetness, a touch of this and a touch of that makes it quite drinkable overall,

Poured an almost clear copper color with a thin off-white head. Citrus forward aroma with a moderately sweet malt. The flavor had a citrusy start and finish with some malt underneath. Mild bitterness from the flavor through the finish. Light-medium bodied and some warmth.

Poured an opaque orange with almost no white head. Smells strongly of citrus, heavy on the orange. Flavor is bitter with a touch of the darker malts, slightly metallic. Finish is astringent, but not terrible. Touches of caramel and candy. At the Great Rugby Tasting 2007, this was the agreed upon winner.

Bottle sampled on 5/23/07: Pours a transparent dark bronze copper with a nicely-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty caramel malt with a hint of citrusy earthy hops. Body starts fairly full with a light caramel malty sweetness and a touch of piny earthy hops. Pretty nicely balanced, but not that imperialized.
