| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 21, 2008 Tap at Ginger Man. Ruddy amber beer with a thin white head. Aroma is lightly toasty with a touch of light piney hoppiness. The flavour is quite astringent and hoppy. Very pithy/piny bitterness. Initially the hops clobber everything else. As it warms up, it improves it significantly. The nose shows a lightly floral/fruity character. Some light citrus and pine. Very hoppy finish witha very lean peppery character throughout. It’s okay, but it’s definitely not great. DuffMan (2751), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2008 I love the regular YSB so I was pretty pumped to try this super-sized version. Pours a hazy orange amber with an orange-tinted creamy head. Sweet toffee, and a mixture of earty and resinous hop aroma fill the nose. The palate strikes a perfect balance between chewy toffee malts and generous (but not overpowering) hop character. I think there is some criticism here about this beer not being "imperial enough", but I don’t think that detracts from it’s overall quality, craftsmanship, and drinkability. I found it to be delicious!; HopBackDoc (394), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 6, 2008 Poured from the ceramic bottle a copper color with off-white head. Aroma was piney hops and bready malts. Flavor was bitter hops balanced by sweet and bready malts. Medium body and a nice bitter finish. Tasted like a good English bitter ale.
