Time in the bottle has weakened the overall bitterness in this strong ale. The earthiness blends well with the hop citrus flavor. Caramel maltiness also present. Johnny has a crispy flavor to it.

Light spiciness and caramel aroma, sweet malt apparent. Sweet like a light bock/heavy dort, hoppy like a pils with a nice balance of earthy-spiciness and just a bit of citrus. Nice.

Poured a medium, hazy/cloudy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas and tastes of citrus, lemons, flowers, and a little earthy. Dry finish.

Bottle thanks to Jeff (radiomgb). Quite excited to try this. Pour is a rich deep golden-blonde color, with some light rusty oranges and a big foamy white head. Aroma of bitter hops, fresh juicy bitter, acidic hops and maybe a touch of malt peeking through. Flavor is full, rich and powerful, the bitterness immediately takes over and while the sweet malt tries to keep up, the hops overpower. Though it’s overdone and extreme, the hops do taste incredibly fresh, especially seeing as how this was released 13 months ago. Great consistency as always from rogue, low carbonation, creamy body. Strong strong beer here.

Bottled, thanks Dr.Bill! Cloudy orange, creamy head. Dryish, yet fruity. Salty and solidly malty with soft mouthfeel and bitter grassy finish.

Good ale. Gold colored and slightly hazy. Pours with a frothy white head which settles to just a very large head. Bitter piney aroma mixed with undercurrents of sweet pale malt. Tangy mouthfeel, bitter. Finish is dry and bitter.

Very attractive orange colored brew with a big off white head that has good retention. Aroma is very balanced. Some hops, some malt, and also an aged smell. Initial flavor is lightly hoppy then the malts take over. I too experienced the big hop spike in the finish that others noticed. Good, not great.

Rogue Nation, San Francisco: Served from a cask. Beautiful topaz color with no head. faint swet aroma with only a hint of butter. Smooth start with malty/buttery taste and a sharp hops spike at the end.
