Not very good, disappointed. Pours a beautiful red with a light tan head. Smells very nice, of spiced run and bananas. Taste however is very weird, very tart, far too carbonated with lots of rum, and a very sour aftertaste. Almost no hazelnut. Give rogue credit for trying different things, but this one isn't a winner, unlike voodoo doughnut. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A nice brown ale, this pours a murky, middle brown with reddish tones, and a small, fizzy, tan head. Nose is nutty and malty. Flavor echoes the nose, with a decidedly vinous quality that makes the beer very enjoyable and slightly warming despite the low ABV. Highly drinkable.

22oz bomber. This one was a gusher. Pours a hazy dark brown color with a thick tan head. Aroma of hazelnut, some spices, with a nice strong rum presence. Taste was kinda blah. Very little hazelnut flavor and slight rum notes. Wasn't bad, but tasted more like an average brown ale to me. Aroma was definitely better then the taste.

My favorite of the John John series. Smells of nutty coffee and light spices. Flavor is mild dried dark fruits and oak over top of the Dead Guy profile. Texture to this one is a little too prickly, though. Does not age well, however. Had a year-old bottle that got lost in the cellar - nose was burning styrofoam, flavor had lost it’s brightness and begun to show serious oxidation signs.

Has a nice hazelnut taste and aroma that bolsters a well-balanced, medium-bodied brown ale. One of the better brown ales out there. Fairly straight-forward for a Rogue.

22 oz. bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a small beige head. The aroma is sweet malts, noticeable spices, light barrel notes and some hazelnut. The flavor has caramel malts, mild spices, nutmeg, cinnamon, very light hazelnut and barrel notes. Thin, soft body.

Cloudy brown. Solid, if a little boring. Clean taste, very subtle hazelnut. Slightly sweet.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized tan colored bubbles that were and left behind a softly carbonated hazy brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was malty and musty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start with a mellow finish. The nice flavor contained notes of hazelnut floral hops and malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

Bottle. Slightly hazy red brown pour with an off white head. Aroma of hazelnuts, fruitier than the founders nut brown, raisins, light vanilla. Taste is woody, nutty, some vanilla. Palate is med bodied with low-med carbonation, pretty easy drinking.
