650ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Poured hazy brown, thin white head. Sour, nutty aromas. More sour in the taste, not sure if this survived the voyage well.

Aroma Is sweet hazelnut, mold, some fruit. Dark brown color, small head. Taste is rummy, sweet malt, some banana-esque, pumpkin-esque notes. Great flavor. A bit flat, but otherwise another winner from Rogue.

Ok aged beer; there's a lot better. Has a better nose than the bourbon barrel aged version, but the taste isn't as good(just a hint of the aging). ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown pour. Big khaki head. Some lacing. Sour aroma and taste. Might be infected. But it tastes pretty good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

August 2010. 22 oz. bottle. Dark amber color with an offwhite head. Malty aromas with nuts, spice, caramel. A little sweet from the barrel ageing, but a nice brew.

3/09/2011: Rogue John John Ale (Ale with Natural Hazelnut Flavor Aged in Hazelnut Spice Rum Barrels)... Aroma: Caramel, dulce de leche; pumpkin pie spiciness. Appearance: Deep ruby-amber color with a foamy ivory-colored head; murky complexion. Flavor: Caramel, dust, stale coffee, pie spices (cinnamon, allspice, clove), toasted nuts, thin hazelnut liqueur. Palate: Medium; bubbly; seems a little thin. Overall: The hazelnut definitely comes through, but this beer is disappointing (as expected) and mediocre at best...

Not very good, disappointed. Pours a beautiful red with a light tan head. Smells very nice, of spiced run and bananas. Taste however is very weird, very tart, far too carbonated with lots of rum, and a very sour aftertaste. Almost no hazelnut. Give rogue credit for trying different things, but this one isn't a winner, unlike voodoo doughnut. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A nice brown ale, this pours a murky, middle brown with reddish tones, and a small, fizzy, tan head. Nose is nutty and malty. Flavor echoes the nose, with a decidedly vinous quality that makes the beer very enjoyable and slightly warming despite the low ABV. Highly drinkable.

22oz bomber. This one was a gusher. Pours a hazy dark brown color with a thick tan head. Aroma of hazelnut, some spices, with a nice strong rum presence. Taste was kinda blah. Very little hazelnut flavor and slight rum notes. Wasn't bad, but tasted more like an average brown ale to me. Aroma was definitely better then the taste.
