4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from a 22 oz. Amber brown with a ¼ inch off-white head with light lacing. Aroma is of apple & spice. Taste is similar to the aroma with a hint of hazelnut in the finish. It would be a good fall beer. It’s yummy. The beer is well balanced since it was aged in the rum barrels, unlike other browns’ I’ve had. High drinkability. I will buy again! Overall a wicked good beer. Shared with my beer buddy AirForceHops... of course!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle:   Deep caramel, dark and burnt, large frothy sand colored head, nice lacing.   Soft hazelnut on the nose, pale toasted maltiness, touch of honey.   Pale semi-sweet toasted malt flavor up front, slight hazelnut, seems a little thin.   More aroma than flavor.   Body and mouthfeel leave a bit to be desired.   Soft sweet nutiness on the backside.   Needs to be more meaty, otherwise its okay.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Nice coffee reddish brown color. Thin off. White head. Malty nose. A bitter sweet in flavor and malty for my tastes. Just ok.

2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
A: The pour is a dark amber/light brown color with a finger of off-white head.
S: Smells strange. A little bit sour, perhaps? Strange fruity notes along with oak and certainly some rum. Certainly malty with a bit of dark fruit. I don’t get the nice nuttiness of the regular beer at all, unfortunately.
T: A slight burn of rum initially, followed by the flavor and a bit of oak. Again, the nuttiness of the brown ale is really covered up here. Sweet toffee and bread with the sweet hazelnut coming through ever so slightly. A little tartness here too. I’m not sure if it’s the booze or if the beer is actually sour.
M: Medium in body with a moderate to high level of carbonation.
O: Seems like all the John John beers have a weird trait to them (tartness). This one didn’t work out, even though I really wanted it to.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poured a dark, almost brown ale color with a thick and fluffy, quickly receding white head. Aroma was not very strong, it was actually kind of plain, just like the gin version, maybe a bit like the regular Dead Guy. Touch of hazelnut, but mostly plain. Flavor is like a brown. Notes of nut, creamy vanilla barrel notes. Hazelnut comes through. Touch of spice, malt. I like it.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Continuing my tour of Rogue beers....nice pour, smells great, carbonation a little weak, dark brown/amber.
Not at all really what I expected, tasted sort of like an imperial red, more than a brown ale, hazelnut definitely comes through, actually very sweet, almost like there is some berry in it, or some floral/citrus hops, all in all not bad, doesn’t come together to make it awesome, but still solid, glad I tried it, I’ll probably leave it at that. Not one of my favs from Rogue.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours asoft copper amber with two fingers of dirty white head. Muted aroma, some sweet nutty character and papery notes. Flavor is kind of nutty and toasted, tastes like a brown ale. Didn’t get much if any barrel character.
